Does anyone know what the part number for a stock 1199R seat i

I quite like the profile of the stock 1199S seat, but would prefer it to be grippy like the race seat.

I haven't sat on the R, but from the pics, it looks like it'll fit the bill nicely.

TIA

Another alternative you might want to consider is reupholstering your stock seat with Alcantara. I bought a whole roll of the stuff and liked the material so much I sold my race seat. Very grippy and looks way better.

I have a upholsterer mate that is currently doing a seat cover for my Pani with a black grippy top, 1199 (same as the side logo) embroiderd on it and grey suede sides, he is keeping a pattern to be able to remake a cover that goes over the top of a standard seat. Watch this forum as I will advertise them with a pic and a price and may do a site members group discount.

ok.. that's food for thought.
How does it wear?

It wears really well. I've had it for 6 months or so and it looks the same as when I had it installed. The race seat neoprene didn't appear to be as sturdy in the long term.

btw.. where did you buy the roll of Alcantara from?

Can someone out there please do a comparison of the stock R seat vs. DP Race Seat?

Differences? Similarities? Seating position?

Thanks.

Stock R is the same as the other stock Pani seat but with the suede cover material of the DP Race (stock R doesn't come with the Ducati emblem monogramed into it either). Despite the suede material, you still eventually slide forward into the tank. DP Race seat has much thicker foam at the front for a more flat surface.

I'm switching from stock R to DP Race.

The main thing you will notice is that the R seat sits you much lower than the DP Race seat. I believe it retains the 32.5" seat height that the OEM crap seat has. As someone who has a 30" inseam, the R seat still allows me to comfortably place two feet on the ground.

The R seat is much grippier than the OEM seat, but not quite as grippy as DP seat. This might actually be more ideal as it makes it easier to lean off the side of the seat in corners.

Of course the DP race seat being taller does offer more comfort than the R seat due to it's extra height. However, I never really had a problem with comfort with the regular seat so this was a not an issue for me.

Pricing-wise, the R seat should cost about $240 from your dealer which comes in slightly less than DP seat.

I agree with 30" inseam and both feet on the ground. Can't compare, but I do not find the "R" seat very grippy. It is easy to move around and hang of the side, but grip is limited.

i love the idea of the lower seat from stock..
otho i hate the look and hardness of it.

the DP race seat is about 1inch taller which would make me tippy toe, which on street will cause big problems i see. also wrist pains

i opted for the Luimoto seat cover with gel pad
hopefully this would reduce the hardness and make it grippy
keeping the height the same

so hopefully my option will give me the best of them all.
but there is not much info on these products so ill have to fork out the $200 and find out myself..

DP race seat is Much more comfortable. Much taller. And much more bite to its grip.

I'm not sure what the purpose of the stock R seat was except maybe as a torture device meant to compel you to purchase a proper seat

Well if any of you "R" owners want my DP Comfort seat, I'll trade ya or buy your original. I don't care for the comfort seat. And only want a little bit more grip which the "R" has.

Hmm.. Interesting. My DP Race seat just arrived today. Three things I noticed right away.

1) Obviously, the DP race seat is about 1 to 1,25 inches taller in the front, and gradually tapers to the same height in the back. Sitting on the seat, I don't feel like I want to slide forward like the stock R seat (if you've ever sat on a bicycle with the seat angled nose down slightly too far, the stock seat feels the same way).

2) Because of the extra height in the front, the angle between the top and the sides is sharper and digs into your legs better.

3) This is a slight surprise. The material on the DP Race seat feels slightly more grippy that the stock R seat. The material looks similar on both, but there is a difference. Stock R feels like it has 20,000+ KM of wear compared to the DP Race (where really it only has 600KM).

DP Race looks like a keeper.

Chris.
