1199 shutting off

1199 shutting off still

hello,
So I have had the bike about 3 weeks now. It shut off on me about 4 times during the break in and has had a few times where is was very difficult to start. Based on what I have read here and other places, when it went in for the initial service today that was completed and had a set of Termi slip ons with the up-map installed (sounds great) and had the charcoal canister removed.... On the way home the bike shut off once waiting at a light and once coming down an off ramp almost at a stop.....

The dealer is closed for the day but I will call them in the morning... Anyone have any ideas? This is totally not acceptable as far as I am concerned and almost caused someone to run into my back tire tonight....

They weren't able to fix it last night?

Not sure what is going on with Ducati...

I just posted a pic on the mechanical forum showing where the chain is hitting my swing arm... Agree completely with this stuff being not acceptable.

Hope they figure it out soon.

No we thought the pipes and maps and all would do it but died twice on the way home..... I will go look the chain hitting it not cool either

I reckon it has to do with fuel quality or specifically octane quality. Forum member AntiHero previously mentioned this as a possibility. I have noticed that all my Ducati's have a tendency to cut out on what appeared to be a very random basis. I experimented with different fuel types and found cut-offs happened the most when I mixed fuel from different vendors.

The one fuel that I had minimal if any cut-off was with Shell.

Vehicle shutting unexpectedly is a safety defect, no doubt. It happens on all kinds of cars and is often treated as a minor problem-downplayed, but common sense knows its an accident waiting to happen. For cars, it can affect steering(no more power assist), interruption of traffic flow to a standstill, and overall loss of control to the vehicle. I am surprised these types of issues are not taken more seriously although my bike has no such issue at all. The only time is shutdown on me is when I put into gear with out raising the stand, in which case I love this failsafe feature.
