i have a front wheel chock for transporting my bike ( i always rent a u- haul with 15k insurance for track weekends) and found it not so easy to tie the front down properly.

after having the right grip / throttle assembly re-tightened with some electrical tape under it, i found myself turning the bar-end-weight back in. thinking, this is a massive thread, long enough, should hold a tie down hook.

voila, here we went:

turned out about 10-12 mm (1/2"). held the hook perfectly in place.

saved me ~ 10 minutes of messing around and pulling the straps through the fairings...

i know there are finished trailer restraints and such, just needed to share this as is turned out to work pretty well. tied it down ~ 40 mm and held it up darn good with all the potholes on I-95.

just as an FYI I wouldn't do this on a regular basis.. a bar end bolt isn't designed to take that kind of lateral pressure.. even if its a high grade bolt you are putting constant pressure on it for a longer time and has to help soak up suspension rebound

thanks for the note! that's why i mentioned to tie it down just a bit of the trace, i could still compress it more with my body weight. as for the weights, take one out and look at them, they are sturdier than car wheel bolts... not sure about the strength rating, but i assume they will easily hold it if you don't push it.

Best Piece of Gear!

Now here is an answer to all your issues man!
This stand just sits in bed of truck and after you roll the bike in you almost dont even need tie downs - although using a Canyon Dancer and quality straps makes the bike so stable you could go four wheeling!

Well worth every cent and the black one looks cool as hell with its krinkle finish on it (though I have Ducati red)

BAXLEY*TRAILER*COMPANY*motorcyle trailer chock

ps. Had many people at the AIM Show ask me about it and if Bellissimoto sold them. :D

U-Haul-ing

Phil: I use a U-haul trailer for trackdays, too, and have found that a combination of the Baxley Sport chock mentioned earlier and a Tyre Down (KYA RACING) works great. Very secure and no need to use bar tie downs.

I'd be more worried about the clip-on than the bar-end weight. That thing will hold the trailer to the bike, lol.

Plus you get MacGiver of the day.;)

Why not use the Canyon Dancer Bar Harness II? The harness is so much safer.
