1199 Weight Gain

Slightly off topic but something else I noticed today at the Motorcycle Live Show here in the UK, the front ends of the 2014 1199 Panigale's were wider, I noticed a split line and it looked like they had added a flared extension to the edges of the front fairing. It looked visibly wider. It was on the 2014 R and the black S.

I asked one of the guys working there and he said its a slight front frame modification to the new models to make them lighter. The 2014 base looked the same as the older model.

Are your 2014's different at the front?

Not a single change to the 2014s in the 1199 family... Well, stuff like hazards now, but nothing like frame changes and fairing changes...

As Tri just mentioned, sure you were not seeing the added fairing pieces for the R model?

Do you have a picture of what those added fairings look like that is meant to go with the R? The S had it as well..

I will upload some pictures tomorrow which I took while I was there to compare the differences.

I guess you guys are right, I did a youtube search for some 2012 base videos and found one with the same extension on it. For some reason I have never noticed it before and I dont have it on my bike and I never got one when I bought my bike, weired! That Ducati chap was such a bull ....... now that I know what it really is lol.

Here is an image of what I was talking about and how go I get one?

Guess it was certain states then. I know in California, they are not available in non-abs models....At least not in Socal.

Available US wide. Not just certain states.... But, you are right. There are none in CA for whatever reason. Doesn't mean there were non as they were available everywhere.

So is the consensus that the ABS is the cause of the weight gain???
