Hi folks,

I'm eyeing a rare offer for a 1199R brand new. As such it's quite a lot of money but the bike looks to be stellar kept: http://bit.ly/2lqCP6z

For 25k is this a good deal or not?

Is this more of a collectable or a track monster that should be used for it's purpose?

Also, is there much between the R and the S version?

Cheers!

it's only getting cheaper, they are not collectible.

if you intend to ride it buy one with a few miles on it.

I guess it really depends on how much its worth to you. With the V4 out now the prices on the twins have come down a bit. The bike you are looking at does have aftermarket rearsets and a CF clutch guard (although I don't know how much it will protect the clutch if it takes a hit). I picked up a 2016 R with 2300 miles on it for $20,000 USD. Prices I would guess will vary across the pond though.

The R model does have a few differences from the S.
R-1199 CC required to race in WSBK and other series.
S-1299 CC

The R has Ti rods, a lighter crank, 2 ring race pistons, I believe the cams are a bit different as well. Rev limit is slightly higher as well.

The S will have the electronic suspension.

Now is it collectable? Some people here would say yes, some would say not really. I use mine as a canyon toy/ track day bike. It really is not a daily commuter as being stuck in traffic is not much fun. At the end of the day it is a fun bike to ride. Its not the most powerful I'm getting 183 HP at the wheel and sometimes it can be a bit quirky but I still love riding it.

He's been trying to sell it here in Sweden for quite a time, clearly nobody wants to pay that price. Now trying international..

It's not a deal unless you were actively looking for a 0k bike and had something to compare it to on price. Its not "new" its a relatively common 4 year old bike that hasn't been ridden.

doesnt take alot to buy a new dash for a 0km reading.......
so 4 years, never ridden, never serviced etc etc

Even my new panigale from the dealer had like 8kms on it

For more or less the same price, you can get a V4S with better features and slightly more HP.

Yeah, I smell a rat especially with the aftermarket bits... Who buys new exotica and blings it then doesnt ride it.
