1199R Clone or not?

Shortly before the 1199R was unveiled, I installed a "Corse SuperSport" sticker kit on my 'S'. I've never been a fan of "badging up" a lesser model to make it appear as something it's not though I like the subtle accents of the installed kit.

I'll be keeping the kit till I decide on race fairings though wondered what you gents think, especially those soon to be 'R' owners - is it too close to an 'R' clone or not?

it does not take alot to make any 1199 model look like an R model with the only real visual distinction being the Alu tank which you do not have and the sticker kit which in itself is very subtle.

I think if you had an R badge on it then it would be a bit naughty but as it is it looks fine.

DRSapp, are those Stomp Grips you got on there? Specific for the Pani or a custom cut job? Txs.

Sounds like penis envy...

Really? in what way.. this was prior to the R copying the 12' Super Sport.

I don't want it to look like an 'R' but I still like the style. Frankly, I was a little ticked that Ducati styled the R after the Super Sport show bike, but that's the way it is.. If I really wanted the 'R', I would get one, but I'm happy with the S for now.

The R does look very much like you bike from the nose, tail and side views.

...... but that's Ducati's fault

If its an issue for you and I could understand why it might be, then off they will come.

Yes sir, obviously I like the scheme, so the 'R' unveiling was bitter sweet.. Love the look of the R but dang it made mine look like a copy.

Personally i like the supersport verson better than the r, look wise. The stripe on th tank does nothing for me. I plan on copying the supersport paint scheme, but with carbon. I dont think its a clone unless you put an R on the fairing, thats just misleading. If anything the R copied the supersport paint scheme, which was an S. So when I put a numberboard on my 916 tail, it looked like a sps, come on. Keep it, and your bikes looks better, i can see your dp reasets, i cant see the ti rods.

Looks great and as always the way we personalize our bikes is our, Er your choice. I also like the shredded tires..........cheers!

No matter what graphics you have on the bike, all those gummy boogers on the side of your rear tire clearly indicate you aren't just some dude trying to pose.

Keen eye AnitHero, thanks for the accolade. I may be able to throw down for short periods, but that pails in comparison to your >15k miles coast to coast and back ride - 1k miles in 1 day - epic.

2012 when i saw the panigale and the supersport model i was def going to copy the supersport look especially with the full aluminum tank, i heard you can get it done for 450 dollars, things came up and i couldnt purchase the duc quite yet and interestingly to see the r came out looking exactly like the supersport! so NO you didnt copy you actually did it first ! i will buy the R hopefully because the price is justified. pani s is $24,000 full exhaust is $3500 plus installation and your looking at 27,500 count in the goodies that comes with the bike if sold seperately and the ti rods and whatever and your looking at 33,000 or up.... so i rather go R! but if i had the S i would of done exactly what you did
