Hello Guys,

That's my R that arrived 2 weeks ago.

DP License plate holder, DP carbon front sproket cover, DP Generator Cover, DP Race seat.

For those contemplating between the Factory R Seat (which has the special material) and the DP Race seat. Get the race seat, it's a lot grippier and it holds you in place a lot better. It forces you up, back and keeps you there. Ride confort is also good if you ask me.

I love this bike.

All the best!!!!

Thanks for the info on the R seat.

I finally saw the R at the dealer and the seat was different yet not as grippy as the DP Race seat.

I have the race seat but ordered R seat because of the height and little more pressure on the wrists.

Do you think R seat is good enough or is it useless like the stock seat?

I did not sit on the R since it was sold.

R seat is better than the stock seat. Its basically the stock seat with a slightly better covering. . The race seat is currently the best option as it positions you better, a bit more comfortable and better traction.

+1, I weigh approximately 235lbs at 6'3" and I was finding that the R seal didn't really do a good job holding me in place especially during brakeing. The R seat however is a lot better than the stock seat.

I find the R seat fairly grippy but thin and uncomfortable after more than 30 minutes of riding. I don't do any track riding right now and was considering the comfort seat for...well...comfort. The only issue with that is i don't want to slide around either and if it is not as grippy as what I've got then I'm going to have go with the DP racing.

Will wait for Fathers day and let the kids 'get' it for me.

I find the DP race seat much grippier than the R stock seat. It is true that the R stock seat does a better job than the stock S/Non-S seat but it's slippery nonetheless.

If I were to rank 1 to 10 in grip... 10 being grippiest (I've never tried the DP comfort seat so I can't comment on that.)

Stock S/non-S seat = 2
Stock R seat = 5
DP race seat = 8

Just my opinion. :D

A couple of questions I have about the Race Screen:

Has anyone experienced the melting of the LCD screen as a result of the DP Race screen?

Are there any people in here who have installed the race screen with the mirrors on? If you could please post some pictures it would be much appreciated.

My dealer said that there was a warranty claim that was denied due to the race screen projecting the rays of sunlight in a manner which started to melt the LCD display.

Any info. in regards to this matter would be truly appreciated.

Thanks

If the race screen is the same as the taller windscreen that came with the R, that wouldn't make sense. How could they deny a claim for a non-R and pay the claim for the R owner just because the R officially came with that extra screen?

Maybe it's just because that's what warranty departments are payed to do on the first go-around. :-(

I have to agree. That makes no sense.

After 150 miles yesterday I can assure you the R seat leaves a lot to be desired in grip (with jeans on any ways) and comfort. By the end of the ride I felt as though I had straddle a 2x6 for 3 hours.

Based on the numerical rating above I'm going to have to try out the DP seat

Thanks ddd269

I have one on order and don't plan on making any changes, unless I discover I need different springs for my weight (though I don't really consider that a mod). I've thrown so much money into aftermarket parts on other bikes. Part of the excuse for choosing the R over the S is to dissuade myself from fiddling with. In the past, it has always been replacing the exhaust and suspension that has sent me down the slippery slope to rear sets, seats, levers, tail tidies, clutch plates, etc. Not this time! But check back in six months; I may have discovered some mods I absolutely must have.

I was thinking the same thing. How could it not be a warranty issue! And this was the Ducati Performance race screen that came with the motorcycle. Personally if that were me I would be relentless in having the LCD screen replaced under warranty. Responsibility is in the hands of Ducati to make a reliable motorcycle which can withstand the elements, especially if it is a mass produced motorcycle and if they cannot manage to do that it's not my fault, especially when you are paying top dollar. Wierd.

+1 That was by logic as well. I have been modifying cars and bikes spending all sorts of money on labour and did I forget to mention the time...I have also come to the conclusion that it is better to pay a bit more money get exactly what you want out of the box and keep it original rather than fiddle with it and depreciate the valve of the product even more than it already has. Great Decision!!!!!:)

My reason also, only I will probably change the mirrors, signals, tail tidie and the seat.

And remember, evidently quite a few 1199s have had their LCD screens replaced already...(probably before Ducati even released their Race screen :p LOL)
