Just a heads up.

I took delivery of my 1199s on Friday, and after a long day of riding on Saturday. My bike wouldn't start. I first had thought it was the battery but after a little trouble shooting. The starter has appeared to have failed. :(

I just hope this is not a issue with our bikes since they have went to a lighter starter. I can tell you this, even during the day on Saturday after the bike has warm up. The starter still has to turn the bike over a bit to fire her up. If anyone else has also seen this problem. Be good to know.

Thanks
Shawn

Shawn, did you get your bike from Coleman's and was your bike the release party bike??

I got my bike from Battley Cycles. It was the first 1199s at their dealership. Thx Shawn

rep, looks like we have 3 for group....haha! congrats shawn show us some pics, im still waiting for my S....

Thx a bunch. I just wish my bike was running. I was really bum after when my bike didn't start and embarrass bump starting it.

And what has me worried is they went to a light weight starter system. I can tell you starting it that day. These bikes take a couple of revolutions to get going. Hope this is an isolated event. Thx Shawn

Shawn, what type of resolution did Battley's offer to you? and we should ride sometime .. Im right on the Pike. I currently have a fireblade CBR1000rr and waiting on a base 1199.

Nothing yet. Battely Cycles is picking the bike up tomorrow. If the starter has to be replaced. How long can that take to get here from Ducati. But once all resolve, for sure lets get together for a ride.

A part of me, wants to give the bike back because I didn't have it no more than 24hours. I just hope this wasn't a lemon. Thx Shawn

"How long can that take to get here from Ducati" My thoughts exactly!!! If parts for the bikes are all in limited quantities as well as the bikes, how long can/ will it take for Ducati to send a replacement???

Yup, and that new starter, if that whats really wrong. Might be unique to the 1199 only. yikes.

mine struggled on saturday day after i got it however figured out just hit the button zero throttle starts on 2 nd turn since

Happened to me once...
After my initial ride (100 miles), I stopped for 5min, had to go pee...!
And it probably took 4 or 5 tries to re-start it, bike was hot.
It finally started and never did it again...

motowheels are offring a battery kit - lighter more powerful battery apparentley

Just a heads up. The dealer replaced the starter. No other damage indicated, but just the starter quit/failed. Hopefully I should be getting my bike back today or tomorrow. Nice to be able to have it more than 24Hours. Thx Shawn

Ok bud .. keep us up-to-date with status and how it performs ... all things like this are just what this forum is meant for. Not all the bickering and side punches amongst riders. Let us know if it breaks again. Thnx
