Hi guys, i am having issues with my ducati 1199s, after approximately riding for 30min the bike shuts off and red Engine light turns on, i turn the ignition off for around 5 min then when i turn it back on the red Engine light has dissapeared and the bike starts again and off i go
The bike has Termi slip ons and a Tuneboy custom tune done, runs alot smoother but hasn't fixed the stalling issue

Please help, any suggestions, this is very frustrating

Is a Tuneboy a piggyback system like a Power Commander? If so try taking the Tuneboy off completely (the ecu should default to its original settings before Tuneboy was installed, if its like a Power Commander) Like Kev said, check fluid levels too and take her for a spin. Might be a wire that is shorting somewhere. I had similar symptoms on my old Hayabusa, which ran fine and then cut out then ran fine again then cut out and so on, on further investigation it was a wire that had rubbed through its insulation on the subframe and was shorting

I think so, however the problem was before the tune, the tune actually made the bike run much better and not running as hot now

Oh I see. Does everything go dead? As in does the display go blank and the lights cut out?
NO, just throws the red engine light, all the electronics are still on just wont kick over until the engine light turns off, which is 5 min later, the dealer reckons a it could be a map preasure sensor

Then change dealers or go to a reputable independent mechanic. If I ran a dealership I for one would strongly advise someone whose bike is intermittently cutting out to get it fixed

I had a very similar issue. after about 32 miles of riding the bike would just die. Engine light would come on. It turned out that the flash that I had done was the culprit. I ended up bringing back to a dealer who flashed it back to OEM spec and it solved it. Just for information after the bike dies and you turn the key off wait 72 seconds for the power cycle to finish. You should then be able to fire the bike back up. After everything was done I was into it for almost $1000. I was told it was the crank case sensor, then an IMU failure, fuel tank vacuum line plugged and a few more. Oh and the company that flashed it told me that there was no way it was the flash.

Thanks for that, it actually sounds like that is what the issue is, i am taking it back to my tuner as he said the same thing, he just needs a day on it to tune perfectly, hope it works

In the interests of full disclosure, the company provides flashes for primarily the Big 4 Japanese manufacturers and used my Panigale R as a test mule to prototype a Ducati flash. So I knew that going into it. I don't fault them for it having an issue/ glitch/bug with their software. I was however pretty disappointed with the overall experience. After I told them of the issue they assured me that it was not the flash. Fast forward 8 months and almost $1000 in replacing various parts I finally took it down to Pro Italia in LA. They were very helpful and were able to pretty quickly isolate the issue to the ECU . They flashed it back to stock and the problem was resolved. I did call the company and let them know about the issue and how much money and time I had spent trying to figure the problem out. I was told if I wanted to bring the bike back down to them they would take a look at it. I chose to go in another direction. They do not offer a tune or flash for a Ducati to date. I have heard good things about their work with the Japanese bikes but I don't have any personal experience with that.

I went Woolich Racing full auto tune. I installed the log box yesterday and most of the wide band stuff. Hopefully I can get the wideband O2 bungs welded on tomorrow. Fingers crossed, my welding guy ran out of Ti welding rod and had ordered more. I'm hoping it came in on Friday. I will say so far the Woolich guys or guy has been pretty spot on with answering all of my questions. The install was fairly easy, I already read my ECU and turned off all of the crap that you don't need i.e. AIS system delete, exhaust flapper valve delete, turned off the narrow band O2 sensors. The software seems fairly user friendly. If all goes well I might be able to begin to do FI tuning this weekend.

There are a fair amount of options out there. I went Woolich due to their auto tune capabilities. I liked some of the Tune Boy features but my buddies dyno will not be available for a number of months while he builds his new shop.
