Need you opinion and i'll it simple

Which do you think is a better deal?

A new '12 base for $16300 OTD....or.... a new '13 base ABS for $18300 OTD ??

this where it gets tricky, Ducati pays your first 6 months payments on the '12 base, but also consider nada actual value as soon as you sign on the dotted line.

Though I dont care for ABS, the '13 does have it which adds value so....???

If you don't care about ABS, I'd go with the 12. I doubt ABS offers a ton of value in resale...but I could be wrong. Others may know more on that detail.

2013, its better to buy ahead, specially when you go to resell, some people prefer second year model over first year. and at 18,300 out the door, you're under my 19,100 OTD for my 2013. (I did get a free rear stand and tank guard and aero kit though) which i felt i got a great deal, Plus ABS is going to be standard and expected in years to come, at least that was my thinking and why i bought the 2013 over the 2012. Only regret i have is i should have went S over the base. ABS is like Air bags, hopefully you'll never need them but when you do you will be glad you got it. Hell I woulda paid a little more if i could have bought a 14 :)

My take is that the '13 will be perceived better resale wise as its the 2nd yr of a new model and perceptions will be that any issues were ironed out...whether this applies to the 1199 is really uncertain.. I agree ABS doesn't add to value but lack of ABS may detract from value..as it were.. so I vote '13...But unsure if OP cares about resale??

Opinions.. gotta love 'em....

I had a similar dilemma and went with the '12. Resale is something to consider, but I don't see myself selling it. Try to talk them down a bit. I got the '12 about a month ago for $15500.

ABS. May not help you at all on the track, but it could save your life on the street.

All good points, I think the decision just got harder lol.

@slnvail I thought I was getting a helluva deal @ $16300, I can negotiate, but damn you got it for $15500? what was the catch? lol did you do the Ducati deal where they pay your first 6 month payments?

Its hard to turn down Ducati paying your first $1578 tho ;-)...

$1578 is nothing compared to ABS insurance + ABS peace of mind.

put another way, mortality rate per mile travelled with abs bike is better stat than w/out.

did you not watch the vid above?

edit: if you're skimping on $1578 at this bike's price-point, then maybe you shouldn't buy it???

haha you last edit was not neccessary bro, you dont know my financial status ;-). I could take advantage of Ducatis' deal and then pay it off after the 6 months if I wanted ya know. Its all about getting the best deal.

I appreciate all the feedback, like I stated before, im not a fan of ABS and yes im educated on it....id more consider the deal on ABS for future value.

just out of curiosity, would you mind sharing with us your educated thoughts on ABS and why specifically you are not a "fan" of it?

thanks

Yep... gotta think that's an odd point of view??? Why would anyone not like ABS?? Other than cost???

Go with the ABS, if you are concerned about cost go with the ABS, if you are concerned about your safety go with the ABS, if you are concerned about resale go with the ABS, need I go on....?
