Hey guys, have you seen a forum or info on recommendation for 1299 track protection parts?
I bought GBRacing clutch and alternator protections (both sides) and CNC Racing frame sliders. But I can’t install them at the same time since they use the same mounting bolt.
Choices are to go with just GBRacing kits OR the frame sliders.
Any thoughts/recommendations?

Frame sliders are a bit controversial. Some assert that they work well enough on a nice smooth track, but that they can catch and flip a bike on the street. Others say that’s a load of BS and that frame sliders work just fine.

Personally, I have never used frame sliders. I have used the GBRacing covers and I was underwhelmed by them. They didn’t hold up during my low side.

In conclusion, there is no special force field. The bike is going to get damaged during a high speed crash but both offer some level of protection.

I've got the giant T-Rex sliders on my bike. I lowsided on the left and the bike flipped a couple of times once it went off the track. No damage to the tank and minimal damage to side panels. Nose and tail were crushed. Next, I went over the bars hard on brakes to avoid a crashed rider. Bike went end over end. Nose crushed, tail crushed, and tank dented. Agreed with youpaiyou, no magic bullet...

I've low sided with my bike about 3-4 times (80-90mph)... these bikes crash very well i would say.. I've only had minimal cosmetic issues do to these low sides (fairings, clip ons, rear sets). With that being said being that there's just to much controversy with frame sliders (witnessed my friends zx10 being totaled due to frame slider catching the ground wrong and flipping the bike in the air) i would never add them to any of my bikes. Engine covers and clutch covers is all I run.

What covers do you run?

What about “fixed” rear foot pegs? The dealership recommended to keep the stock folding ones, since the bracket that they connect to are flimsy and in case of pressure can transfer the pressure to the joints/bolts, further causing damage (if they had fixed pegs on them)… the fold will cause less pressure to be transferred. But I have a lot of track guys that swear by the fixed pegs. My theory is fixed pegs on upgraded rear sets may be the best approach (like CNC Racing, Rizoma, Gilles, Ducati Performance, …) but not on stock rear sets. Any experiences here?

I don't know about your dealers logic. The stock rearsets are cast aluminum but if you got the Ducati/Rizoma rearsets they are billet CNC and still fold. Either way, they only fold in one direction and its near impossible to predict how you're going to crash and how the bike is going to slide, twist, spin and worse flip.

I'd probably do folding just because there's a chance they'll fold and not snap off.

Maybe one of the track guys can chime in, but I thought fixed were so you have an easy lift point for tire changes and not a crash protection thing.

I use the folding ones not to save them on a crash but to save them from digging into the ground and making the slide worse similar to frame sliders would. I Have CNC aftermarket rear sets and the ordering spares process is as easy an email and they are at my door (NY) from Italy in 3 days

I have full t-rex set. Frame and axle sliders. The last two low sides I have had... they worked as designed... you can also get replacement pucks from them. Great responsive service too.

I went with GB Racing case covers, front axle slider and fixed foot pegs for the track. I actually have the Ducati/Rizoma rearsets that will do both folding and fixed. Folding for the street, fixed for the track.

I think the best are woodcraft but GB's saved my bacon. Careful where you get the GB's, a mate got a set of ali express and they were dead ringers to the last detail but I weighed then. Guess which one was about 50% lighter (hint, it wasnt the genuine ones)
