i think i'm going to get this bike.... that v4 frame and overall aesthetics is already bothering me -- i'm shallow and i don't need more than 209hp anyway ;)

Those test mules look like engine mules. I would suspect they simply adapted Panigale bodywork to hide what it will look like eventually. Automakers do that all the time. I'm sure it will have some sort of family resemblance, but I wouldn't look to those pics to represent what the final bike is going to look like. They will catch some better versions in a few months I'm sure.

you are probably right. my other rationale here, and please correct me if i'm wrong, is that a 1299r engine will have more torque than a v4 engine with similar displacement. and i'd rather have the torque in an fe twin. and i'm well aware that an fe will not retain its value much going forward so i'm not buying into the limited edition nonsense anyhow.

You don't have to rationalize anything to us. "Because I want one" is perfectly acceptible.:D

I would think you are right though. But, it's going to require some aftermarket tuning with all the emissions crap making all the liter bikes gutless at low RPM.

I like that. You don't have to rationalize anything to us. "Because I want one" is perfectly acceptible.:D

Well said. I cannot wait to see it. I think it will be nice. I might buy one too.

The problem for me with this bike or any other panigale bike is the exhaust. I hate the world superbike exhaust. It looks like it was just put there. I like the exhaust where it was initially put on the bottom.

i think i'm rationalizing to myself in a public forum.

Have the same feeling but some people might disagree.

Well on that point we agree. ;)

while i feel your pain on this...i myself, have learned to move past it - i easily rationalize the entire cosmetic conundrum with this (gotta have it)mindset: "no matter how you color it...i want one" ;)

while i do prefer Red, or Orange or whatever color the factory feels necessary "i'll take it" !!

(insert exhaust system into above formula) ;)

SL -- does chassis dyno = rear wheel ?
R FE -- engine dyno = at the crank ?
