It tends to read that way doesn't it.
Could be a lot of smoke and mirrors going on here.
As I pointed out earlier, Ducati.com now has old 1299S and Pani R hp reduced to 197,
when they were both 205 when sold a few months ago

due to changes in the dyno.

So basically they will now market all of the other bikes by "at the wheel" but feel justified in
marketing the new bike at the crank?
Apples and oranges for the purpose of confusion alone, as it serves no other legitimate purpose.

they really don't want to produce a bike with the same output as the $90k sl they just launched but this is Ducati and it won't surprise me if it is.

From latest Asphalt & Rubber:
https://www.asphaltandrubber.com/bikes/ducati-1299-panigale-r-final-edition-spotted-carb-emissions/

It’s official, the folks in Bologna are about to launch the Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition, the name being confirmed in emission filings made to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) this week.

The CARB document confirms a couple items for us (most notably the name of the final v-twin superbike), but it also raises some interesting questions.

For instance, the CARB document shows that the “FE” Panigale will have a 1285cc engine, just like the rest of the Ducati 1299 Panigale lineup, yet the bike will still carry the “R” badge, which is usually reserved for Ducati’s race homologation machine.

We are not sure how the Panigale R name, and the Final Edition machine with its 1285cc displacement fit into Ducati’s typical designation scheme (beyond price, of course), so it will be interesting to hear how Ducati explains that at the Final Edition debut, slated for the Laguna Seca World Superbike weekend.

Until then, we can puzzle ourselves about another interesting factoid, namely that the Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition has completely different emission numbers from the Ducati 1299 Panigale and the Ducati 1299 Superleggera.

In fact, compared to its sister models, the Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition is the cleanest running of the bunch, with lower hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, and carbon monoxide levels shown on its CARB paperwork.

Loyal Asphalt & Rubber readers will remember that just a few days ago, technical specs for the Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition leaked online, showing that the FE shares quite a few engine internals with the Superleggera model.

Expected to be roughly half the price of the Ducati 1299 Superleggera, we are guessing that the FE will be mechanically very similar to the SL, though devoid of many of the Superleggera’s carbon fiber goodies.

We have only a couple more weeks to wait and see. Stay tuned.

well at least the exhaust will be available now!

Or this instead.. :D

Jarel, can you share anything

Only that the Akra exhaust will not be coming any time soon as a general accessory for purchase, according to both Ducati and Akra. Ducati wanted it to be exclusive on the 1299SL and probably now on the 1299FE, and refused to put it out as an accessory for the other bikes even though there is overwhelming demand for it. I want one BAD for my bike, and have for a year now and been trying to get one, no dice. So now Zard and SC Project have debuted designs for that style of exhaust and Akra/DP are going to completely miss the boat on a big chunk of the initial sales for a completely ........ reason. That SC exhaust looks great, hope it's available soon and I'll put THAT on my bike instead with a Rapid Bike. No, I'm not bitter about it......

Do you think that TERMI might make this and sell it to the public?
