i don't know you already have electric bikes making impacts in the trials world and dirt bike scene, the big issue is the weight and distance but manufactures are trying.

Yeah, for 5 minutes before needing a 5 hour charge........ That's really convenient

LOL.
The Zero's will do like 120 miles and can be charged in 2 hours. Not too shabby and definitely progress. Putting down something like 115nm without having to worry about powerband

Nope.... We've got a long .....way to go before electrics can put out over 200hp AND be able to put in a 500-600 mile day while doing this on a bike that keeps the weight under 400 LBS..

Is there a petrol bike that can do that? :) The weight is the biggest thing for me, and it needs to be considerably less than 200kg as well. I'll be first in line when they manage to do it as it drives me mad having noise hassle on track with the Panigale. It will change everything when bikes become quiet enough to not p*ss off the neighbours.

The Lightning E-cycle currently sets the benchmark. With the 20 kwh battery it weighs in somewhere north of 230KG.and puts out 200hp. They claim it can travel around 160 miles, but at a realistic speed of 70-80mph its range is probably somewhere around 120 -140 miles. Then a stop at a quick charge station would be required and it would take 50-60 min to charge the battery pack back up. Price for the Lightning is over $40K with the larger battery pack.

Sure, I realize you can only get a couple hours on a tank of gas but then a quick 5-10 min stop at a petrol recharge station and your back on your way on a 190 kg cycle.

Yes, I agree....the Pani is loud but so is a Harley or a freight train or my neighbors party at 1 PM in the morning.....etc. Sometimes we just have to say f*ck it to the neighbors. I say go buy the final edition and enjoy....

In a decade or two electric bikes will finally get there and as you said...it will change everything...but I really don't want to ride something with about as much personality as a kitchen appliance. Do you??

I shared the track with Michael Czysz while he was developing the electric bike that ultimately kicked ... at the TT. This was five years ago and it was about as fast as a 600. Looked like a spaceship and went like hell coming out of corners. Given that was several years ago, I suspect we aren't that far off of them becoming a reality.

I may have some old gopro footage of me chasing it for a few laps on a 750. I'll try and dig it up. The creepy part was when he got side by side with you and you didn't hear anything. Normally you can hear the intake noise on a bike that is that close to you on the track, it was really messing with my spacial awareness.

Any news yet state side? Not sure at what point today the bike is to be revealed at Laguna Seca. Since you are several hours behind the UK, I'm guessing we'll see some pictures tonight. Post up some pics when you have any people.

I'm not so curious about the looks so much. I just want to see if the list of parts added on a 1299 will justify the price over the "R"?

Someone going to Laguna, please pass along some pics and deets if you get a chance!

Looks like a x-mas tree ornament. I'd say my check book is safe.

The red wheel throws it off I think..... black or Gold wheel will probably fit better... IMO

horrible. and the exhaust looks terrible (added pipes to the stock exhaust; an exercise in extraneous redundancy). the wheels make it look cheap. the colors and their layout are straight up vile.

the R is that much better a value proposition.

(something at D's design dept. has been way off of late, starting with the sub-par paint scheme of the 1299SL.)

F.E. as in FUKDUP EDITION, or FAIL EDITION

That's not exactly a "glamour shot", I'll bet it looks 1000% better in person, as most Ducati's do.

even at 10000% better in person, that still won't help this ugly duckling look even half-way decent.

Meh, it is what it is. They will all sell out anyway. The engine is still special IMHO, and maybe they have some last chassis or electronics tweaks. I actually prefer the look of the Anniversario, but I'm just being an armchair critic at this point.
