I have run into an issue - wondering if anyone else has seen this. Removed the 2 OEM fasteners to install the Ducati Performance guard and as I go to install the 2 supplied fasteners - they are not the correct size. The ones that came out are 4mm. The shoulder bolts supplied with the guard are larger - a little loose in the 5mm gauge, but definitely too large for the 4mm. I have double checked the Ducati part number and the dealer ordered the right one (97380101A). The paperwork lists 899 and 1199 but again - same part number shown for the 1299 as well.

Thoughts? Returning it seems fruitless as they will just get the same thing again according to the part number.

Btw - those two stinking little OEM bolts were rounded out from the factory. Had to cut a slot in them and remove with a standard screwdriver. Came right out but still........

Yeah, the dealership I go to notice that while all the "Stuff" is compatible between the 1199 and 1299 aftermarket wise for the most part, the DP stuff has different bolts (the difference between the bikes) your dealer should be able to get them for you, or have them.. I know mine is stocking up on various bolts because of this.

I'm hoping so. I called this morning and they had no idea but said they'd get in touch with Ducati and see what the remedy is. Surely I am not first on this one. Only down side is that they won't be able to do it until Tuesday. You'd think that a dealer would have at least a parts guy available on Monday for those of us who have some sort of issue over a weekend when a lot of folks do work on things - or break things :)

Same thing happened to me. Here is what
I did;

Cut the threaded portion off of the supplied collared fasteners.
Drill out the center of the supplied fasteners.
Use new m4 bolts and place through the modified collared fasteners.
Use purple loctite.

I got the m4 bolts from Probolt.

Thank you for the suggestion sir! Remember the length you ordered by chance?[/QUOT

I think it was m4 x20. I believe I bought m4x30 and cut them down. You should be able to duplicate the length of the stock fastener.

STEYR AGU - worked like a dream. Thanks so much for the suggestion! For those who run into this and may come across this post in search results later.....

20 and 25mm length both work. I chose to go with 25 to get a little more threaded length in the head as the 20 didn't get as many threads as I would have liked. Also - I chose to use a full cap screw rather than a button head to get better depth of the allen key on the fastener. The OEM ones were rounded out from the factory and in no way did I want to go through THAT again. Darn tiny little fasteners.
