Just wanted to say hello. Been wanting a Panigale since 12 when they were released. Finally pulled the trigger and put a deposit down on a 1299s this weekend. Pretty darn excited to finally get my hands on a Ducati. Why it has taken this long I have no idea, I've wanted a Ducati since the first 916 was introduced. I guess better late than never. :)

Congrats and welcome. In mean time, so you won't be surprised, please search as much as you can on the Pani specific issues given this is your first Ducati. Stuff like the paint chipping easily, fairing screws tend to strip easily, smoking upon startup/oil burning during the breakin period, 600 service costs etc.

Good on you. I think you will love it.

Awesome, congrats and welcome to the greatest forum ever created.

Major congrats!

I wanted a Ducati since the 996 and bought my first new one in 2009. It was well worth the wait :D

I've already chewed all my fingernails off...if they don't get here soon I won't have any fingers left!

Congrats and enjoy!

Out of interest my 1199 smoked all the time, even with 12,000 miles on it. Not seen it once on 1299, neither has a friend. Also, make sure you have 622 miles on the bike for the first service, that's when the service light will come on (1,000km), you'll need to take it back to dealer to reset.

I was in the same boat as you. I have wanted a Ducati since the 851... I joined this forum back in 2012, but have merely lurked until this year.

Got such a great deal on a 2014 1199 Base, I just could not say no. I have 274 miles on her now and the smoking stopped just after 210 miles.

Still trying to get the suspension dialed in for me. But other than that, I am loving this bike.

That's awesome news. So exciting that I just joined the forum after years of lurking.

I've had a poster of the 996R on my wall since forever. I am hoping to demo the 1299s soon and if all goes well purchase my first Ducati. I look forward to reading all about everyone's experiences.

Thanks!

Welcome..... you just reminded me how much I miss my nine-one-...!!
