I'm about to pull the trigger on a new Panigale R this week. I've been trying to find any information on the new 2014 Panigale R but everything that come up is about the 899. Does anyone know what if any the changes for the 14 year model are. The dealer I'm buying it from has two 13s left and I know I can get a substantially better deal buying a 13. Just don't want to regret (if that could be possible) not buying a 14. Thanks for any replies.

Mike

The 14 R has hazard lights which the 13 doesn't. Am not sure about other aspects like addressing the heat issues or dash fogging but I would say go for the 14 if you can

...thats the issue, if hazard lights are the only difference between the two...3-4k more for a 14 doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense. hard to believe thats the only separating the two.

Get the '13. If it's going to have issues it's going to have issues. Regardless of year. Fogging dash etc has been around for years. Get the 13 and save yourself some money. Unless hazard lights are worth the price difference to you. That's the only difference AFAIK.

I got the 13 last month and saved $5k.

The 2014's are supposed to be $30,999 as well, a $1000 increase.

There was a chap on here whom already bought a '14 and said the fueling was better.. or something to that nature...Maybe Ducati created a new Map ?

Mapping is just an easy upload...which I'm sure will be made available. Mapping and hazard lights 13s looking better and better! ✊braap

Will akras be fitted instead of termi ?

Nope.. the '14 R still gets a full Termi kit.. for now only the SL has exclusivity to the full Akra system and would have its own special up-map for the special engine parts and it may be a one-off deal (for now at least it looks that way)..

It would be nice to see the whole Pani lineup get a full Akra system through Ducati with ready up-maps but since Ducati own Termignoni, that deal may still stay..

Putting the Akra on the SL seems like really poor marketing on Ducatis part... Its like they are saying Ok we give up and admit Akra pipes are the best....

Reserving the best exhaust system for the super best bike model is kinda lame in a way.. maybe they don't want the Termis to look like a lump dick in their hand

I was just thinking that if they sold the full Akra system without the up-map and expected the customers to tune up the ECU through the dealer to maintain warranty, the dealers could easily make an additional $1000 profit through the tune-up cost in addition to the $4000 odd that the exhaust system costs..

Nice Hijack guys....thanks for the help.

Hey Mike!

I was faced with the same issue last month. I ended up going for a 13.

The savings were worth it. After looking at the dealer's model spec sheet the ONLY difference are the hazard lights.

You might want to check out Ride motorcycles Toronto, ask for Oliver!

Go for the 13 model.

Save the extra cash for mods...

Akra TI or Mag rims are more worthy then having a 14 model, where the only difference is the hazard lights.

so but they're the ones with the Titanium pipes. and when you're looking for weight ...

Termi used to make a lot of the pipes used in Moto GP, go back to 2009 clips and look at the Yamaha's and Hondas. Termignoni are good pipes! Don't get all puked out because Ducati doesn't have an up map for a pipe they didn't make. You'd kind of think that akra would produce something since they created the pipe.

Thanks Guys went with the 13...bought it this morning. this bike will be a project build race/track bike. I'm picking it up friday/saturday...let the build begin!!!
