Its not that, Audi and Porsche has been working with Akrapovic for a long time. SInce AUdi now owns Ducati, they are switching to Akra's

the Akra on the SL is there for the weight. it's titanium ... a titanium Termi cotsts 9500 euro's and ti Termi's were/are only built for CORSE factory efforts.. if i remember correctly

Ducati=Audi=Akrap as Akrap is supplier to audi upgrades.

My bet is that Akra is on the SL (and the current Desmo) because that's the direction that Ducati is headed in. It's one thing for it to happen with the SL. It's different for it to happen on the SL and the Desmo GP14 as well.

OP, good choice on the ‘13 R. I’m thinking of picking up an R to replace my 12' base but I think I'll just get a used one as they seem to be so plentiful.

Congratulations. There's a lot you can do with the $5K if you shop wisely. I'm slightly peeved with my MSRP purchase but the dealer did give me a good trade-in on my 06 CBR1000RR which I later regretted. At my age, I can't afford to waste time waiting around for a discounted price. More time spent on the bike is worth the $. I will probably make the same mistake again on a 15 R but time is precious, right?
