2013 Ducati 1199 Panigale R Pictures & Information

Looks like that the first R that comes with passenger pegs, I see a seat lock. Race hmm.

Love the all red paintscheme...and nice aluminum tank showing a bit of the Alumunim part of it. Also, like the idea they did away with the red pinstripes on the wheels...I prefer the all blacked-out wheel look...makes it look more like a "Works" bike.

Love this look over the tricolore!!!!!! Looks like a 10 to me!

The seat looks interesting...... Fingers crossed it will be available as a dp accessory

I have to agree with the more skeptical people. It would need some more mods like different rims, maybe paint the frame and rims gold-ish color like the 1098 R. A corse paint job would also be awesome. And as I posted in another thread I would still rather have the tricolore :)

You can stick the tri. This looks much better IMO:)

if they didn't use a different subframe like on the previous models, they can still load it to the max.
more fun for the passenger on this one ;-)
mag or carbon subframe would be it.

i don't really consider this bike a full out R model just a slightly upgraded S, for me this bike just does not differentiate itself enough from the current model range and i would of preferred if Ducati had of waited another yr and brought out something really special even if that meant a higher price tag.

Don't forget, that the R model is mainly for homolgation so they can compete in the WSBK, WSTK, BSB and other domestic series.
These are prepared by Ducati Corse racing department, and they don't add anything that is not needed.
The engine mods, frame and swingarm mods must have been needed for homologiation, especially when you consider the rule changes coming.
The look of them is secondary, to homlogation requirements, which is why the strada's versions are often better road bikes.

Looks great but deffinetly bummed after investing in the tricolore!!! Kinda like getting the I pad 3 six months ago and now there's a IPad 4 except worst!!!!

New track bike for you then J ???

Nah, I've got mine set up how I want it now, not looking to start over with another bike already. I've had 4 track bikes in the past 2 years, time to stick wtih one for a whole season again I think! ;)

is the R's engine the exact one which will be raced in 2013 wsbk, with no further upgrades?

but i don't think they would use these suspension for the race. likely follow super-stock or close.

This is sweet...,will be sweeter if Troy Bayliss, just come and participate a few races to show what this thing can do,or further improve on.

Does it not seem odd that even with full termis and a 12000 rpm rev limit that Ducati are still claiming "only" 195?? Same as a base Pani...

Nope, the R has the 195 number as stock too, just that with the racing exhaust it goes to 201 hp. 3% on top, and 15%+ on the mid-range, which means 30 hp in the middle if my math is correct. Of course, we could map it differently and have higher peak hp, but then we would lose out on the mid-range.

Coming to your point though, yeah I have a feeling the engine does produce more than the S does (which ranges from 175-185 depending on dynos/conditions/etc), but we'll have to wait and see.

By the way, I just don't understand why a lot of people here are being so negative about the R. You can always add the carbon parts and the Corse scheme with the 10k+ that you save by getting this bike for 30K. Use the extra 500 rpm & map the bike accordingly, and with a few mods here and there we have a bike ready to slay the S1000 I think.

I'm not quite sure why some are down on the R or Tri either tbh. To me the Tri is a limited edition S with some upgrades/options made standard and a limited production paint scheme to commemorate the release of the new series. The R is the "Homologation Special" focused on WSBK eeking out whatever gains they can at a production level. If you were to have a standard S or an R painted in the Tri scheme, add DDA+, etc it still ain't a Tri and, vice-versa, if you were to make mods to get the Tri to 200hp it still ain't an R - they're distinct models.

To me it's not a comparison between the two, I just look at them as 2 bikes with specific purposes and just...different.
