2013 Ducati 1199 Panigale R Pictures & Information

I'm not quite sure why some are down on the R or Tri either tbh. To me the Tri is a limited edition S with some upgrades/options made standard and a limited production paint scheme to commemorate the release of the new series. The R is the "Homologation Special" focused on WSBK eeking out whatever gains they can at a production level. If you were to have a standard S or an R painted in the Tri scheme, add DDA+, etc it still ain't a Tri and, vice-versa, if you were to make mods to get the Tri to 200hp it still ain't an R - they're distinct models.

To me it's not a comparison between the two, I just look at them as 2 bikes with specific purposes and just...different.

With the tri being 28k it was an expensive S, and it had tons of extra's really not seen on a standard S. When I bough my 999r the s had no carbon panels, diff wheels, mag parts, trick frame, etc. The 1098 R was bounds above a standard S with a price tag too. I was expecting much more for a R. It just sucks for me and tri owner who could have had an R for 2k more. To me the tri was over priced to begin with, it should have been 25k and S 23k. If feels like we got duked by ducati. Make me pay top dollar for an s and release the R next year at baically the same price. My s wont hold it value any better than the R, doesnt really make special, I can put an R sticker on my fairing I guess.

What's interesting is they opted not to keep the oil window hole. lol
LMAO haha. They would have saved more weight too, with the cut out. Nah,does nothing for me. This is starting to get like fashion now. What do you do? get a new bike every season? lol.

Yeah, I'm just joking. I really don't care, I just remember how big a deal it was for the hole before.

there isnt much in terms of different from S to R besides paint

i worked it out that even if you pay for the all items seperate youll be geting the same value.

most expensive parts new to me would be the
conrod TI - 3000 (NCR offers it for the older models)
Li Flywheel - 500
Full Exhaust - 3500

i think im betta off buying S then make my own purchase on things i think i need and have spares lieing around.

Nah, I've got mine set up how I want it now, not looking to start over with another bike already. I've had 4 track bikes in the past 2 years, time to stick wtih one for a whole season again I think! ;)

You enjoy that track bike mate. May turn mine into one some day. (dreaming) again.:)

Agree, its a model upgrade as everyone does every year. Be interesting to see what it will cost in Australia.

The tri is not my cup of tea as I prefer the basic red scheme. We buy what we want and not what looks good on the forum signature. If I had to replace my S and could afford it, I would buy this R. Looks great. Be interesting to compare the two on a track making adjustments to the swingarm pivot.

I"d like to see how they have done the adjustable swingarm pivot feature. Must be built into the swingarm itself as the pivot pins screw into lugs on back of crankcase. Like on a framed bike they put in pivot plates with the hole off set,to change the angle. Will have me magnifying glass out at the NEC for sure.

Is ducati dropping the aero wings. I did notice the corse bike has a wider nose, but looks like keeping the streetbike narrow. Mine are still in the box.
