2014 1199R- please identify this plate/bracket?

I have a quick question about a spare set of 2014 1199R stock rearsets that I picked up for a project bike. What is this plate/bracket used for: #38 (part number 82716921AA).

Please identify this for me.

Yeah, it for the larger exhaust shield.

Not needed for the 899/1299 shield or the early 1199 ones.
 
I could not tell from pictures and my 2012 1199S has the original heat shield still.
