I cannot even count how many times I've been asked "does that thing keep up with an R1?"
Does it???

what kills me is when you hear a squid at a bike night say omg i love the R1's they are so fast...i feel like i hear more about the R1 being fast than any other jap bike and it just really pisses me off because as mentioned, its the heaviest and slowest. love the sound with decent slip ons tho...gotta give em that...but does anyone else feel like they hear erroneous claims about R1s like i do more so than any other bike??? lol. i make sure not to ride with anyone where that statement comes out of their mouths...
What kills me is when street riders or occasional trackday riders completely overestimate their ability relative to a modern litre bike and think that something like an r1 is slow. Sure the US version is neutered but here it is with somebody who knows what they are doing in full power EU trim at the 12 launch. Not a modification in sight.

Clearly they all go harder than this on the road. Although I suppose straights are the ultimate test of skill
Clearly everyone thinks that motogp Yamaha liter bikes are just like the R1 or similar. I've been asked why I would want the Pani since the R1 is clearly faster.

I don't see many S1000RRs at the track. At Barber t weke ago and at PabIR this past Sunday, I may have seen 6 BMWs total. I saw dozens of Panigale's 1199/899. Too many posers on BMWs.
IMHO all bikes are designed to perform their specific purpose. So even if it Still A Yamaha, I am pretty sure their bike has some good points. To each his own but to dismiss other bikes just because of the brand can be futile . Remember in 2000 when Honda released the rc51 vtwin? Majority of the Ducatisti that time dismissed "Its just a honda" , well in that year Collin Edwards left ducati 998r's to dust.
Lol, really. Lol
Yeah, I thought us Pani Starbucks guys had the poser contest pretty well locked up.

Exactly! Everyone knows Italians are all about looking good over function. And no doubt, the Pani is the best looking bike out there! Perfect for posing at Starbucks!
Philz Coffee for me, Starbucks is so blasé, get it right

Sorry guys the r1's from 2009 to 2014 are not slow they are detuned by the GOV. All you have to do is get your ecu flashed and you have a bike that will beat allmost any bike. when i got my 2009 i hated it. then i talked to a friend he said you know that that bike is not a joke it's fast a crap. do the exhaust and get rid of the cat. then get it flashed and then you will see what happends. WOW it's a new bike. I was told by a sportbike guy and the crossplan is no joke. yamaha know what they have and if they want too they can make that bike have over 200+ hp. I had many r1 ones and if they keep the crossplane and up the hp very easy to do for them then yamaha is going to be the one to have. also 2007 and 2008 are not the fastest flash the 2009 and up and it will beat them. I know becouse i had mine checked my 2007 and my 2009 and the 2009 has more torque and hp after you flashed it. So guys if you dont know what you are talking about then look in to it. all i hear is yamaha is a pig and slow. Heavy yes slow no.i love all bikes but i will buy another r1 and still beat most of my friends. and yes i have beat the new 1199, my friend just cryed was like wow what did you do to that. i just laughed.what kills me is when you hear a squid at a bike night say omg i love the R1's they are so fast...i feel like i hear more about the R1 being fast than any other jap bike and it just really pisses me off because as mentioned, its the heaviest and slowest. love the sound with decent slip ons tho...gotta give em that...but does anyone else feel like they hear erroneous claims about R1s like i do more so than any other bike??? lol. i make sure not to ride with anyone where that statement comes out of their mouths...
