Hello guys, I bought a used Monster 821(2020) today and this is my first Ducati. It's only at 5500 miles.

However, I noticed a more significant rattling/tapping sound around 2500-3000rpm range, I mean like different from other rpms.

The sound definitely decreases/disappears almost completely when the rpm drops, and it seems to decrease when you past 3-3.5k rpm too, but I'm not 100% sure because the exhaust sound increases as the rpm increases, so it's hard to hear exactly. But yeah most probably it decreases.

I hear the same noise when going downhill at low speed, this time there doesn't seem to be a rev range, but at low speed.

When I pull the clutch or when the gear is in neutral, there is no same noise at any rpm.

There doesn't seem to be any performance loss in the engine (I mean I don't know what the full performance is because this is the first time I've used it properly, but it goes like crazy).

Sidenote: When I went to test the bike at the dealer 3 days ago, I don't think I noticed this sound or even think that this sound doesn't exist. Before I bought the bike today, the tires were changed to brand new tires(pirelli diablo rosso 3) because the tires were worn out. I don't know if it will help, but maybe this information will be useful.

The sound is very similar to the sound in these videos:

I hope I have given you enough information.
Thank you in advance to everyone who takes the time to read and try to help.

So if you pull the clutch in and the noise goes away? There might be a clue there? I have dry clutch ducati's and they rattle and clank. Yours is a wet clutch so I don't know what's normal. If it sounds like a wore out part rubbing up against a broken one that's normal ducati.

Yes, there is zero rattling sound when I pull the clutch. But I have no idea what is normal and what is not normal about Ducatis

dark200, have you found a solution for the rattling Problem?
I have the same issue with my monster 937, only 1000km von it. The rattling startend hat about 750 km.
Hate this annoying rattling.

I have the similar rattle at the same revs. Recently rebuilt 103 to 107 . Louder when cold, no idea
I investigated this issue and talked to another Ducati Mechanic. It is normal with the Monster 937, other Ducatis with same Testastretta engine do not have this rattling, only the Monster 937. this is because oft other factors, fort example the tank or other components on other models absorb the rattling. it is a shame and i hate it. I will sell my bike with a high loss probably.
