My dealer who has as of yesterday had to close for 2 weeks told me they will arrive sometime in April. No one disputes this at this time. I won't get mine till early in May because of all the extras I've added and the fact they are a busy dealership. First in first out kind of stuff. However if it goes a little longer, the quarantine ordered by their state, 2 weeks might turn into more and that is the brakes:( What I'm looking forward to, is when the day comes and they arrive, that maybe Somefun will post pics of the V4R gas tank he's installing! Parts list, step by step instructions, and the cost!!

Remember that,

I Will for sure! My dealer is saying from what they see in the parts book the tanks seem to be different in the rear mounting area. I hope not because I really would love to have the V4R tank on there with the aluminum radiator side covers on there. If I can’t then I think I’ll have the side covers painted red to match the bike.

Hey guys! Somefun here, I ordered my Street Fighter in December and I’m supposed to see her in April! For options I added the Magnesium wheels, V4R fuel tank (love the look), carbon fiber winglets, CF front fender, CF rear fender, CF gage cover and the full Akrapovic exhaust system and also upgraded the levers to the Ducati Corse levers like on my Speciale. Really looking forward to the V4 naked stance and upright seating. I’ll see how I like it and if its all I’m thinking it will be I might sell my fully modded 1290 Super Duke.
Hey mate, I understand the SF has a different fuel tank to Normal V4 Panigale, SF Fuel tank goes under seat something around making the seat bigger and more comfortable, are you sure the V4R tank will work?

Actually no not sure. It is a different mount set up in the rear. I’ll just have to wait to see what it looks like in the mounting area.

Since everyone is anxiously awaiting their Streetfighter, I wanted to share a test ride I did today. Dealer had a "show bike" sitting which they should've returned to Ducati but due to the situation in Europe they can't and I convinced them to let me spank it like the dirty girl it is.

This was a brand new bike with 2km on the odo. Rode it to the nearest gas station documented its virgin status:

I'll try to compare it to the old 1098S Streetfighter and also to my 1299S and the Aprilia V4 engine.

Lets get the obvious out of the way. Despite the counterrotating crankshaft and wings, she wheelies just fine!

Looks. God damn! She's the bad girl from college. That one who liked to experiment and scratch up your back. Her noise made me tingle in all the right places. The Youtube videos do not do the stock exhaust justice. That said, a full Akra system would be on my list of mods. I have the full Akra TI system on my 1299S and the Streetfighter deserves it too. The sound is visceral. Very different from the Aprilia V4 engine and also different from the Panigale V4. It's obvious Ducati has fiddled with the mapping to give the Streetfighter more low end and midrange punch and you can hear it too. There is a slight difference from Panigale V4.

She feels light. My 1299S is heavily modded with carbon wheels, full Akra, lithium battery etc etc. It sits sub 180kg wet and yet the Streetfighter felt lighter. The handlebars and counterrotating crankshaft work together here to make one very agile feeling bike. If you add carbon wheels she would feel weightless I imagine.

Anything above 5K rpm and she just flies. Full WOT in 2nd gear is weird as hell. With the longer swingarm (compared to panigale V4) and bi-plane wings you can accelerate like nothing else I've tried. And I won the national drag racing championship a few years ago. The front does not really want to come off the ground unless you want it to. The bike is very controlled albeit very dramatic. It simply mental in the midrange. There's something weird going on with the ECU mapping though. The bike feels like it has more power in 4th gear than in 2nd gear.

With this version of the V4 engine I feel Ducati has come ahead of Aprilia in the V4 game. Ducati engineers deserve real kudos because the Ape V4 engine was probably my favorite engine so far but this version of the Ducati V4 is the best yet in my opinion. The amount of oomph in the midrange combined with top end is fantastic. With a full Akra system where you get the full 220hp and 10% better midrange torque than the Panigale V4? It's unbelievably good.

Stretching her legs, she easily tops 260kmh and no doubt she would hit 300 if she was geared for it. This speed also highlights probably one of the biggest flaws of the bike. The seat. You have to get another seat if you expect to use it past 240kmh. The stock seat is flat and you will slide backwards due to the wind pressure. I did and tried puling myself forward by the bars at 250kmh and the front came up in 6th gear under WOT. I was speechless at the power this naked bike makes. A curved seat like the racing seat for the 1299 would be best. Definitely on the top of my list of mods. When I saw the bike the first time I thought the winglets needed to go and that they ruined the look but having ridden the bike, it badly needs them for stability. Especially above 200kmh.

The brakes are great. If you've tried the Panigale V4 or the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory, you know the Stylema calipers are awesome. What's not so awesome is the stock Brembo front master cylinder. Considering the relatively low price (compared to e.g. full Akra exhaust) for a Brembo RCS front master cylinder, I would upgrade this before I left the showroom. I'd probably also get the Brembo Z04 pads to take proper advantage of those amazing calipers and the RCS pump.

The black plastics look crap compared to the rest of the bike. It's really a sneaky move by Ducati not to include at least the carbon fenders and winglets with the retail price. These would also be on my list of must-have mods. Those aluminium panels? Who the hell came up with that? I'd spray paint them black immediately. Also the radiators need so black mesh protection.

There's a heated grips button but the bike I rode did not have those. You pay extra for those too... Made me shake my head a little, but whatever. I'm in a cold climate so would get those too.

Had her through some of my favorite corners and as I'm familiar with the Rosso Corsa II tires (they're on my Supermoto), I had them to the edge fairly quickly after scrubbing in. For an allround bike I'd probably keep them as I know how grippy they get when proper warm but if you're going to the track often, consider upgrading to the Supercorsa V3. The DTC system is great. We have pretty dusty streets here still from winter and the DTC lit up like a Christmas tree coming out of multiple corners. Granted I rode at setting 5 of 8... Would probably try dropping that if it was my own bike.

The up/down QS is like butter when you're riding slowly and like a hammer when you're spanking it. All in all much better than the 1299 and imo also slightly better than the 2018 Panigale V4s. I haven't tried the 2020 model. Aprilia still does it better imo but that's personal preference.

But one thing is the Streetfighter is so dramatic that she badly needs a GP shift rearset modification. If you want to ride her hard and fast, you need this simply for the reason that getting your toes under the lever is difficult under hard acceleration. To me it's comparable to the flat seat issue in terms of rideability. I wouldn't leave the showroom without a GP shift modification regardless of whether it's a stock Ducati offering or different rearsets.

Mirrors are typical Ducati. Ditch them for something without parkinsons. Stock ones are useless at any speed.

Overall the impression is very similar to the old Streetfighter 1098S. The riding characteristics in cornering and general dramatic feeling when going just 80kmh is pure riding essence. Where they don't compare is that the Streetfighter V4S does not have the low end torque kick and it is much more manageable in that sense than the 1098S was. despite not being as light weight the V4S feels as light weight as the old streetfighter and with a huge power advantage over both the old streetfighter and most other naked bikes, it truly feels like a superbike without fairings. Albeit one which is manageable around town as well as at full send in your favorite corner.

That's it. Only a few bikes have made me yell holy f*** and laugh out loud in my helmet as I WOT through the countryside. My 2nd RSV4, the 1299S and this Streetfighter.

If you've got one coming your way, I'm sure you'll love it.

hahah my 1299 makes me do that, it’s so true. Do u think a 2020 Panigale would bring the same enjoyment? Or is the 1299 way better for the country roads?

Yeah, really makes me want to order one. Thank god the dealerships are closed here

I can't say for the 2020 Panigale V4, but I rode my 1299 to the dealership specifically hoping to compare it to the Streetfighter and took the 1299 on a 200km roundtrip after the test ride.

Keep in mind my 1299S is set up for me suspension wise, it's heavily modded w. Full Ti Akra, custom Tuneboy map and -1 front sprocket, carbon wheels, GP shift rearsets, better brakes etc.. It also has the upgraded DTC EVO electronics. It's a missile and I'm very comfortable on it. The Streetfighter was stock.

Because of the difference in seating position, the Streetfighter feels much faster and dramatic under acceleration than the 1299. The 1299 obviously has much more torque and coming out of corners or under acceleration, I often find myself on the back wheel, which arguably feels awesome but it happens even when I don't intend it to. I didn't get comfortable enough with the Streetfighter to pull it out of corners on the backwheel but it's definitely possible.

The torque curves of the 2 bikes are very different but so is the gearing. Torque can be manipulated with gearing, what really matters in the comparison is torque available at any given speed. Due to its shorter gearing through the gears, Ducati manages to give the Streetfighter fantastic midrange feel. Take 4th gear as an example. 125kmh on a stock 1299 is around 5750 rpm. On a Streetfighter it's 7500 rpm. At these rpm the two stock bikes make the same 110nm torque. The big difference is that this is right in the annoying torque valley of the 1299 but it's right in the middle of the torque surge on the Streetfighter. Accelerating from 100kmh in 4th gear on the Streetfighter will feel like a surge of power right away that just keeps building rapidly and also feels more dramatic due to the upright seating position. The 1299 will lurch forward immediately at WOT @100kmh, but then lose its gasp a little as the torque dips and then will come alive again which gives you a moment to brace yourself for the mad rocket ship you're on. Due to the forward leaning body position and high footpegs, it feels much less dramatic although the two bikes are probably equally fast in this test if the 1299 isn't slightly faster.

In the lower gears is where there's a real difference. I can pull the my 1299 on the rear wheel in 2nd gear easily with a slight whack of throttle at 50kmh. It has so much damn grunt in the lower revs that it's like using cheat codes. The Streetfighter did not want to do this in 2nd. In 1st, yes no problem. But in 2nd and up, clutch up is necessary.

The Streetfighter will never feel like a 1.3L V2 stump puller. The old kick in the ass when whacking the throttle, lurching you forward - that's gone. If you like that, get a 1299 - or better - a Superduke. This is arguably the biggest difference from the old Streetfighter, but the new streetfighter is just so much better in every other aspect that I did not feel like I was missing it at all.

As for which bike is a better speedster on country roads, the 1299 felt more special to ride after the test of the SFV4S and I know I am always faster on the fast stretches on a superbike than a naked bike. The 1299 is like the girl who rocks your socks off during specific hours of the night. But taking her grocery shopping would feel awkward. The 1299 is awkward below 100kmh except for the occasional wheelie but incredible at +150kmh. The Streetfighter is only awkward at +250kmh where hanging on is quite literally a battle but incredible everywhere else and makes you feel it too.

Like marriage, choose the one who makes you feel incredible even when grocery shopping. I'd choose the Streetfighter.

that’s how my SLOW Harley feels cause it’s seating position is like that of a Lay-Z-Boy

Thank you so much for the write ups, sounds very similar to the Triumph Daytona VS Street Triple, which I am very familiar

thank you!

Just got word from the dealer that my new girl just came in! going to un crate her on Tuesday. Really looking forward to seeing her. I have them looking into painting the silver side covers for the radiator in red to match the bike. When I thought the V4R thank would work I was good with the silver but now that I know it won’t fit I think l want to change up the silver.

Ducati Miami have told me that they received 1 bike from 8 they were supposed to get. I’m dubious but they still allege they’ll fulfill my order before April 30th. We shall see...
