2020 Streetfigter V4S: Two questions.

My "sediments" exactly. In comparison, the small block V-8 in my F-150 gets 19-20 MPG highway (versus 28MPG on the V4), and that's a 5.7L engine moving 5000+ lbs.

My typical rides either a require a fuel stop, or a "white knuckle" return to home base (I have equipement and like to fuel up in my garage) on reserve. But that's not really the issue-the issue is the bogus fuel metering shown on the display. Makes one wonder what else on the dispaly is inaccurate.
To be a fair comparison, the normally aspirated 5.0 would need to produce over 942 HP to make the same power per liter as the SF. I can't imagine your mileage would be more than mid-single digits on a good day.
We take the performance being wrung out of these engines for granted, complaining about an engineering miracle with this kind of performance (uncorked & big brothered, mind you) while still meeting emissions and noise standards as being underwhelming because it only offers >30mpg. Gotta pay to play one way or another.

I'm well aware that it's an apples to oranges comparison. When I want to save gas I take the Schwinn or my rollerblades.

But let me repeat: The issue is the bogus fuel metering shown on the display. Makes one wonder what else on the display is inaccurate.

Good excuse when the cops light you up doing 160. ‘Sorry mate fuel meter is off so the other instruments have gotta be faulty’

Not so much 160, but how about 61 in a 55 (maybe you'll get a sympathetic judge), or maybe a DTC or DSC just a little bit off (maybe you'll get off without skin grafts or a craniotomy).

Point is, in an aircraft, that kind of inaccuracy would get you shut down by the FAA in an instant. 30 % off is simply unacceptable.

Good to know my 85miles before fuel light comes on is normal. I stopped believing the onboard mpg was wrong very early on. I will say the other systems seem to be spot on; DTC, DWC, etc....

keep submitting feedback when they send the surveys out. We’ll get fuel capacity readout soon, hopefully a distance till empty estimation too

I have a couple safety cans full of Shell Nitro 93 for refueling before each ride

I don't know about that. The trip odometer just tells you the distance you have ridden since the last reset.

I just want to know how much gas is in the tank.
Yeah that’s how it works

If you reset it when you fill the tank it works just like a gauge

All you have to know is how many miles you get out of a tank and a little simple math

Example : “I’ve gone 40 miles - I can go 40 more without running out of fuel. I’m at half a tank now : )”

How you ride will drastically effect your MPG which is why its not the best method. With a simple gauge you'd know exactly when you were near the bottom of the tank and not have to rely on fuzzy Italian gas math.

Yeah

Tire pressure should be displayed on the dash too

And they should come with a loud ass stereo and a sissy bar

We got burnt

At least where I live, fuel gauges are just an added failure item unless you can find 0% ethanol fuel to run all the time. The ethanol jacks up the sensors/floats, and it isn't just an Italian thing- I've had the same problem with multiple other vehicles as well. So the question then is whether to go 10 miles out of the way to fill up on corn free gas, or just use estimation skills built from years of dirt bikes and calculate the ride. There's a reason why Ducati have rolled out multiple generations of gauge sensors for the American market.
I basically dismiss fuel gauges in any vehicle as I have found them inaccurate at best in every case. Top off, zero the ODO, ride it like you stole it, then return to the same pump and see how many gallons you actually used as a conservative baseline; eventually you'll have an average and plan accordingly.

That’s how I’ve always done it

Seems easy to me but I grew up around boats

Dip the tank with the wooden dowel from a ski flag in the morning and guesstimate how many skiers I could pull around the lake how many times before needing to head to the marina

And then try not to get so buzzed that I lose count : )

Or when you're in an old school jet, where you judge fuel by the sloshing sound, and switch tanks often to keep it trimmed right... but nobody cares because it's too fun. This guy gets it.

Yeah, did that, 28 MPG. It is what it is, just disappointed the display is that far off.
