Shock off hold this in a vice wind it on remove the spring clip wind it off

The aliexpress one you posted pics from wasn't around back when I needed to change springs. For cheap spring compressors it doesn't look too bad.

i use this one...no issues...

I tried that style, different brand/make, and all it did was mar up the shock spring and contort itself into the trash can. When I saw the nylon strap one, I figured in the very least it wouldn't f' up the shock spring. I think back when I bought it, it was only like $30.

What sag do you now have and is the 9mm preload the shortened length of the spring from free length?

Hi there!
Have not set sag. Don’t have tank or anything else on yet. Doing forks now.

Yes free length was 160mm. I’m compressed 9mm of that now.

My rear sag with old spring was 32mm rider. 11mm free sag

Jag

So finished up the suspension work and ended up here:

Front
10/15 preload.
Free sag: 28mm
Rider sag: 40

Rear
17mm preload. (6mm less than stock 85n spring)
Free: 14mm
Rider: 32

I am still bottoming out the front forks with the 11.0 springs. I can’t believe I’m going to have to go to a 12 at 220-ish pounds fully loaded with gear. I’m at 10 of 15 preload adjustment. Was 13/15 on 10.0 springs. I would’ve thought a bigger change.

It’s only happening on 160mph to 40ish HARD BRAKING… and on the track where I’m coming down from even faster. I think it’s going to be worse….

I checked my notes again. When I last set sag I was 196lbs +25lbs for gear. 8 turns from full out was 28/29mm static and 40mm rider.

You can use different rate speings in either fork to give you a combined rate. 13 is as high as they go, but you’d have a combined 12 Nm, plus the ability to add the other 13. I think too much and you loose front end feel.

What air gap did you go with?
