Hey guys, wanted to share my build, been lurking around here for a while, was waiting for it to be finally be done (well 98% done  with everything on backorder during COVID). Not going to lie, was rough dialing it in, totally different bike coming from an R1, but not only is she beautiful, she's also fast as ..... Was originally going to just be a track bike, but it's now become even more motivation to lose more weight and get into shape to race a new organization at my local track (CRA out of Buttonwillow, CA). It's going to be amateur hour, but bike is finally feeling great, put down new PB laps at Chuckwalla this last weekend. Just need more time on it at this point, but would love some ideas on next upgrades, especially from some of the racers RoadracerX Karl Bukester Rick. Thanks in advance.

@aque0us looks nice, where is your radiator guards?!

Also, with that taller front tire it looks like your fork ride height is too high. Does it fight you on entry?

@roadracerx Yeah, when I start to push, it gets harder and harder hitting the apex (as seen in the video, not the cleanest lap, but that was my best). I thought that the rear would be raised more than the front with the 65, ie. it would raise the rear more (5mm) than the front (3mm) so overall the rear would still be higher. I was actually thinking about lowering the front 1 or 2mm, and raising the rear 1 or 2mm before the next event. Should I just try the front or do both? I had the rear at 314mm in the past (+4) with the old tires and absolutely hated it.

@aque0us the 200/65 Pirelli Diablo SBK slick is actually only about 1 mm taller than the oem 200/60 DOT Pirelli Supercorsa SP V3. 315 mm eye to eye is 2 mm longer than stock. Set the length to 315 mm and the fork with 10 mm of tube above the top clamp, not including the cap.

Btw, your thinking on tire height and rear versus front height....remember this....there is a linkage at the rear which is typically about 2.5 mm : 1 ratio....this means that a 1 mm change in shock length actually changes the rear ride height by about 2.5 mm.

Hey aque0us Thanks for mentioning me in the same company as such esteemed racers!

Your bike has way more upgrades than mine, so I don't have anything to offer there... except to plan for heat management while racing.
V4's run hot, SoCal gets hot, and racing pushes everything into the red zone.
Racing orgs will probably also require water, which has great heat transfer but lower boiling point.
My current solution is running distilled water with Water Wetter in the stock radiator and I also went from a 1.6 to 2.0 Bar cap to help prevent boil-over. I take my cool down lap lots more seriously and have a big shop fan ready to blast the bike as soon as I get to the pits. And I am now considering installing a racing radiator.

Aside from this, get high quality tire warmers and a pressure guage and immediately go see roadracerx for a setup. :)

Was there today ;). Thanks for the feedback I really appreciate it, floating the idea as well, hope to see you @ CW in March.

Amazing build. I am trying to fit my aella frame sliders with a timing unit cover specifically the ducati performance one how did you go about doing this If you don’t mind me asking? also I am toying the idea of using the dzus as well but want to use it with the stock fairings. Is this possible? I thought they wouldn’t look good on the regular fairings or look ”old” till i saw them on yours and mannn your bikes pretty

Thanks! To be honest, I haven't a clue, my mechanic installed em. I can take some close up pics though if you need to check any clearance issues.

Great build man. I can predictably guarantee however that the chosen frame slider will snap off in a nanosecond if you go down. That’s no a bike saving solution. Had a very similar Sato setup back in the day. That thing folded like Superman on laundry day and it instantly departed the bike on initial contact. That slider is simply too far away from the bike creating a huge leverage point. Looks cool though.

Thanks, yeah I agree, but still rather have that snap off and take the initial blow. Was debating it, thought it wouldn’t hurt.

Besides the proven case covers, there’s really not a lot of decent solutions. They are all a bit flimsy by design and often cause quite a bit of damage to things they are bolted to. Traditional “framed” bikes have a big advantage being able to anchor the protection to something solid. Not a big fan of bolting those things to soft material, good way to crack an engine case.

Good luck in CRA. My business was sponsoring a rider in the series but he joined up with another team and seems to have quietly stopped tagging us on social media posts. It's not much to offer, but if you find yourself in San Diego and would like spa services for yourself or a significant other, shoot me a message. I'll hook you up with a discount for being a fellow V4 owner :)
