So I removed the 4 screws (6MM) that hold the passenger foot pegs to the exhaust shield and subframe but it seems like there are built in spacers that go into the exhaust shield from the passenger pegs

Does anyone have any ideas on how to remove them without disconnecting the sub-frame?

You can pry them out a bit and might scratch the heat shield just a bit. Or you can remove tons of stuff. Most of us just pry them out with a plastic tool or something. I removed mine, but I don't remember how.

Have a look:

Take out the two small bolts which mate the two halves together and then wiggle one side out at a time.

Keep in mind that you’ll need to buy a set of Panigale spacers after you remove the passenger foot pegs assembly.

I just undid the 4 bolts and then slid them out. Took a little bit of force but wasn't difficult; no scratched cover after either.

Make sure to put heatshield spacers on after though.

Stripped mine trying to remove. What do I do?

I have stripped or snapped so many bolts on these Ducs, it is crazy. Twenty+ years of stripping/snapping almost none on Jap bikes, but Ducati loves to use weak (i.e., light) bolts and lock tight made from Mars lava. Use an extractor (probably some heat) or drill it. You can also weld (or have a shop weld) another bolt to the stripped one and then remove and replace it. The last one I snapped was the clutch reservoir bolt that holds the plastic reservoir. F*^kin' green lock tight.

lol those ones were a pain in the .... luckily didnt strip mine but i sliced my hand on the heat shield

Can you get access by removing the heat shield or the subframe?

If you have access, you can try hammering in a slightly larger Torx impact (the black hardened ones) and turning it out that way. I don't think they are have Locktite, but heat won't help too much unless you had a torch. A heat gun would take too long since there so much material.

There are specific tools you can buy to extract stripped hardware. I've had good luck with the Torx method and on certain fasteners, cutting a slot in it with a Dremel and a cut off wheel and using a big flat head screwdriver.

A handheld impact driver is good for stuck bolts as long as you can get a good bite on it, between the bit and the fastener.
