Hello everyone!

Ever since I was kid I always a Ducati..I finally arrived and bought the Panigale SP.. I want to start track days as I gave up my 09 R1 13yrs ago when my son was born. I've heard a few different things when trying to get race fairings for this bike, but I wanted to run it past the people who would actually know. Official Ducati Forum! So I live just outside of Orlando, if anyone can recommend a shop to assist w/set up etc.. Mainly wanted to know about race fairings, wind visor etc..
Really appreciate any advise you can offer !

Never been a fan of black cars or bikes but the aluminum and red accents really set off the color. Very nice looking ducati for sure. Just gotta replace that hideous exhaust n you'll be set.

Enjoy

Very nice looking bike man. IMO The best track fairings for it are sold by Hotbodies. I think it's AP Carboline or something like that. All the pre-drilled holes lined up with the fasteners. I had to do minimal trimming. I've has tracked bikes for the better part of 15 years and these were hands down the best fairings I've ever purchased. I went with the prepreg material.

I have the pre-pregs from them too, don’t let them paint the fairings for you, they are a train wreck at that, but the fairings are very good and a good price for the quality of fitment.

I’m probably gunna order a 2nd set from them because I want some yellow fairings to match my car.

(Then I’ll be double cool at Cars & Coffee)

The Fullsix carbon RS fairing is very nice. Pricey, but nice.

Fullsix makes excellent CF products. I have several pieces in matte and match the Ducati production parts nicely. That being said, I would hesitate to use them as track fairings.

Yeah, I’m full six of one and half dozen of the other on this 😂😂😂

I got the pre-preg ones from hotboddies precisely because I wouldn’t mind some track patina on them.

But lay downs are not as common as I thought they would be lol

I say that but every session last weekend on day two we had a red flag, luckily without injuries.

Why would you be hesitant to use them?
CF fairing is not reparable. Most track fairings are fiberglass composite for this purpose. Track riders are definitely gonna crash at sometime. Unless OP has unlimited budget for track use, fiberglass is the way to go.

Ah, right. 👍

CF is repairable - just not as easily as glass.

How will you get them both there at the same time?

Carbon is very strong and stiff, its ideal for fairings if you have the budget to replace them after a crash. Sure you can repair them but they tend break more than plain old E-glass which is nearly as strong and has a higher modulus of elasticity which allows it bend more without breaking plus its a lot tougher.

Carbon is mostly sold on the aesthetic, not the practical benefits. For most cycle parts the amount of material is so small that the cost differences should not be huge i.e the materials on a typical part would not be more than 20% of retail and probably a lot less. The expense is in the toolmaking and labour, and to make a carbon part properly you need to vacuum bag and autoclave it. If you can make a bigger profit on carbon than glass or ABS then why wouldn't you promote it?

A lot of carbon parts I see are overbuilt IMHO and don't take full advantage of the materials properties other that ooh aaah its got a nice weave! You can build E glass parts nearly as light for about half the materials cost and its a relatively low tech process which reflects the other the big advantage of polyester/vinylester fairings is that you can repair them really easily, even at the track between sessions if necessary.

Carbon wheels, frames, swingarms, forks etc- these components are fully engineered and if the weight is the same then the strength much higher or if the strength is the same they are much lighter and may be a bit of both but weight is weight, and if you you added up all ancillary plastic cycle parts and replaced them with well built carbon then you would get considerable savings, even then I am guessing that on a Pani would not be more that a couple of kg's difference.

All that said, over time I have come to really love the look and Im in the carbon fanboy club 🤣 but if getting track fairings I would definitely go E glass

To add- fibreglass you need to paint or gelcoat unless you like ugly, that adds weight whereas carbon you can leave plain. One more tick for carbon

Well said. You write about the topic with an authority and familiarity suggesting professional experience. If so, I appreciate your insight

As a layperson, I’ll only add that the first time I picked up the Armor Bodies fairing for my gsxr after handling the carbon fairing on my PV4, I was shocked by the weight difference - the plastic fairing felt two or three times heavier than the carbon (I don’t know the actual weight difference). As you said, the plastic fairing was also a floppy mess vs the carbon fairing stiffness. Lastly, although carbon might be more difficult to repair, my mechanic repaired my carbon fairing very nicely after it was worn through in a low side.
