HUNGARIAN motorcyclist Mathyas Balint is the living embodiment of the saying 'age is but a number' after the 85 year-old picked up his brand new Ducati 1199 Panigale S.

Balint was immediately attracted to the new Ducati superbike after it was unveiled at the EICMA show last year, so much so that he was the first person to order one at his local dealership.

Ducati-fan Mathyas already owns a 1098R and when he arrived to pick up his new superbike machine he said that couldn't wait to get out and ride it, but admitted that he isn't a fan of ABS, as brakes were almost non existent when he started riding and he is already happy with the bite of modern brakes.

Do you think you'll still be riding when your 85?

Good for him...I know several guys in their 70's riding 1198's and Desmosedicis
and showing the younger guys a thing or two.

I would probably be MORE likely to ride one at that age, since my balls would probably be removed at that point it would make sitting in the hard seat a little more comfortable

I can only hope I'm mentally capable of riding a superbike at that age. Good for him.

I'm gonna hope to be both Mentally AND physically capable of riding a superbike at that age ;) Good for him indeed!!!

Kinda seems like an advertising stunt to me.

OTOH, I'm sure there are plenty of old riders still doin' it.

Good on them!

Thats a very pessimistic point of view. Especially with it being your 1st post on the forum and all. can't you just be happy for the guy?

I'd settle for still breathing at his age. Providing he's safe, good luck to him. My father-in-law is still driving in his mid eighties and I'd say he's an OK driver. There are however, some older drivers that are utterly terrifying and I see more than my fair share of these as I live on the holiday island of Jersey. Here the hire car companies are required to put a red H on their number plates so you at least stand a chance.

I think I'm more afraid of the 16 yo girls behind the wheel. At least most of the really old drivers drive really slow.

I'm a member of the local vintage riding club. Nice to see the riding going well into the twilight years. A few still do trackdays and some still vintage race.
