899 or 1299?

True. I may get flamed here but ive neverr been faster on the track than on an R6. To me its about usable power. Even on my 1199 its way out of my league. Its a rock star and im in marching band.

R6's hold many outright track records...

The handlebar vibrations can really get annoying; twins are inherently better because vibration frequency is half. Handling feels numb, although I never invested $5k in a set of Ohlins that may have fixed that.

Riding a BMW makes you feel like you rode a smooth motorcycle from point A to B. Riding a Ducati makes you feel like you just had ....

Vibration is less on a twin? Agree the Beemer is a little too sanitized, but it is quick

I had ridden an 1199, and bought an 899 without even test ridding it. I was almost disapointed about the power. But I researched and learned how to ride it and I understood it. I just love it now. I just love to stop, sit and look at it. If you want to find its power, you have to rev it. If you accelerate it wide open throttle from a start, it will just go straight even on race mode on High. But if you roll it half open throttle and open it all the way at 7000rpm, then you will meet the beast. And now be careful, because it might flip you over on 1st and 2nd. On this bike, you can manage all the power!

Well said. I agree 100%.

In my experience as a Coach, it is the guys who are newer to riding (in general) that learn faster and crash less. They are there to learn, soak everything in, and improve at their own pace.

The guys I worry about are the "Canyon/Mountain Superstars" that think they are fast. They are the ones that let their ego get the best of them and push too hard and crash often.

I can relate to this! I started tracking in my 2nd year of riding. So definitely no ego.

Now I've got about 14 trackays under my belt. Still a ton to learn etc but yet to crash.

Here's a pic from my 1st trackday (LOL!) and a pic from a trackday last year. Big difference by keeping the ego in check and simply learning!
