the first 1199 didnt have an oil viewer. to see your oil level you had to pull the fairing with a led light and hope to see something

Not exactly correct mate:(

It was possible to see between the fairing and the clutch cover (even with the DP Carbon protector installed).

Granted one certainly needed a good led light.
Also the right angle to view the sight glass.
But it was readily done. IMO.

Agreed.

I have a '12 without the fairing sight hole and it's nothing more than a minor inconvenience to grab the nearest LED pen light and take a look.

Should they have put one there? Sure. Does it bother me that they didn't? No.

899 Panigale Brakes

Just some info regarding your brakes.
I have had the same problem, pumping the brakes resolves the issue with the brake pulling right back to the lever. That is indicative of air being in the brake line somewhere, so your brakes will probably need bleeding to resolve. That is a warranty issue so your dealer will happily sort that for you. But the issue has returned.........if you read long term test report for the 899 Panigale from MCN UK you will see they mention this is a issue with other bikes to, they suggest it is a problem with air leaking past the bleed nipple on the Brembo brakes. Faults with brakes are obviously dangerous issues and at the end of the day if the fault is with the callipers that is something Ducati will have to address, my dealer has been good so I am confident of a positive response when I take it back in. Any one else had problems?

My lever feels inconsistent, like it has to be pumped once to have good feel. I was going to bleed it to fix the problem. My old 2012 GSX-R750 had the same calipers and the same problem. Supposedly there is a way to fix it though.
