Here's the latest addition, being installed today and will try them out at the track on Monday:

Well, not going to be trying these on Monday now..... :( We need to get a new tool for the Showa forks first to get these installed, so it will be another outing on the stock forks instead! Not all bad really, it will give me a chance to play with the settings on those forks a little and see if I can improve them any further beyond the settings I used last time.

Did the additional day on the stock Showa forks, didn't really make any further improvements, the springs are just too soft for my 190 lb. heft and even at 1/2 turn out from full stiff there's not enough compression damping for initial hard braking. So I was pretty much relegated to braking softer and earlier which doesn't help lap times. But what I did confirm again is that there are several short straights on the track where I'm actually hitting a higher speed than I did on the 1199 the same point. Corner speeds were not epic with it being windy and chilly, the track was not very grippy. Before our next track day at a different track (Motorsports Park Hastings) in 2 weeks, I hope to have the Ohlins TTX25 fork cartridges installed, the Termi headers and revised fuel map, and maybe even the lightweight wheels installed.

Interesting about the higher speed on the short straights. You don't think it's a gearing difference? You can get on the gas earlier and harder with the 899 and that's making the difference? Also, are you running the same tires as you did with the 1199?

If all the above is true, sounds like you're on the way to faster lap times with the 899 for sure.

I think it's the lack of wheelie/instability more than anything, I had to really modulate the throttle on the 1199 to be on the edge of the front end dancing around in those spots while still partially leaned over, whereas on the 899 I just pin it and the front gets light and dances a little but not to the point it's going to throw me off the edge of the track. Yes, I'm running the Bridgestone slicks, just 180 rear instead of 190 rear, but otherwise the same. The DDA data shows it pretty clearly, the red line is an 899 lap and the blue line an 1199 lap, top graph is speed and bottom graph is throttle position. Higher corner speed through the chicane on the 1199, but that's down to track condition/temp, the 1199 lap was in the summer with nice sticky track whereas the 899 lap was this past Monday on a cold windy day.

Jarelj,

You realize your going to have to PM me a quote to either buy your bike or biuld me one!

Sure, I can build you a clone, I'll put some numbers together and PM you. Also, I'm putting BST carbon wheels on it now....

It's done (at least for now, still have a few more upgrades planned):

I like the color scheme. If I were to have a set of body work painted, I'd go with something similar - except maybe make the oil pan a green instead of black (as a nod to 750 F1).
Looks nice.

Green would be cool for sure. I always go with black on the lower because I can touch it up with a sharpie marker when it gets dinged up! ;)

Ha Ha!

I used to always have a roll of duct tape that matched the color of my bodywork just in case I needed to patch it up real quick.

I have rolls of red, white and black duct tape in our trailer too! :)

thank you to Jarel at Ducati Omaha for getting me out a set of the 1199R Rake Angle Kit, I will be fitting it with the Robby Moto Triples, Will give an update on fitment next week :)

Ok, I added it all up and sent you a PM. I'm not sure I really should have put that all in a list and added it up, because now I realize I have an 899 that costs a lot more more than an 1199R! Ha ha! ;)

that is easier to handle and does better lap times then the 1199R.. dont forget to put that in there :)

No, I've been reading a lot of motorcycle magazines lately, and what I've learned is that there's nothing more important than horsepower! Ha ha! :D:D

really??? seems nuts...dont know what the cost is in the US but I think you can more or less buy 2 new 899's vs a 1199r new here in Oz....

would you mind sending a break down to me of the parts in USD that you've added.....just for interest. I'd like to do this in a year or so...build my 899 track bike

BST's, Brembo HP's, AFAM Superlite sprocket are on. This combination saved over 15 lbs. of unsprung spinning weight! That's got to be noticeable, right?? ;)

and what is the effect on that? Not trying to be a smart ass. I just don't know.:D

The effect is I have to spend more money to get really nothing better. ;) I already have the Brembo racing 19x20 master cyclinder, which works with any of the 34mm-36mm piston size calipers, so it would make a lot more sense to get a set of 1198 Monoblocs or just spring for the full Brembo billet racing calipers. That's IF I feel like I need more brakes, which I haven't thought I did so far. We'll see now that I have the fork cartridges installed, since I should be able to brake later and harder, and I might find the stock calipers are not up to the task.
