$99 Rearsets??? Can they really be that bad?

Too bad I don't live in the USA. By the time it gets here, the price is more like $600+ with freight and taxes.
Doesn't look like the Chinese-made are crappy either. I'll keep it for now.
Unless if anyone would offer +40mm up adjustability....

A couple of things that I think about when buying knock-off parts:

If it's a functional part and quality will be an issue when compromised, such as bearings, brakes (levers is as debatable as it is being here) and engine parts, I'll stick with original respected brands. With the exception as someone mentioned here is if they specify industry standard and material (ISO9999 100% titanium), then you'll probably be ok.

Parts such as carbon bits and oil caps, knock-offs nowadays should be ok.

What bothers me is if someone in parts of the world can make a $1000 part for $100 and make money, then these parts are overpriced in the first place. Do the raw materials on a rearset with considerable payoffs to the engineers and designers worth $1000? This doesn't matter to people who drive Bugattis to pick-up eggs, but for me, I'd rather spend my hard earned cash on something more significant.

If a company invests 90% of their money on something that can be copied fairly easily, they won't get very far in this day and age. A lot of things are made in China and other parts of Asia now whether you like it or not, and might as well be on the long end of the stick !

gillestooling.com They are over seas from the U.S so if you order directly from their site it may be cheaper. I posted the U.S link of a dealer for us americans to save on shipping costs. I just received and installed the reasets. They are absolutely wonderful.

Bah....I just found that the eBay rearset crap that I installed is very bad on the tyres. The current supercorsa SP set is likely not gonna last even 2000 kms. And that includes daily commuting....
I am smiling very wide after every ride but deep down inside I am hurting.

Hi guys

An update here on my rear set. With more time and couple of washers I was able to re align the break shaft and seems working fine. I made some adjustments in the gear shaft and the lever works properly. I need to ride the bike to make sure I like them but so far so good. Here some pics.

It seems mine were adjusted with the gear lever a lot higher than yours (problem with my foot not disengaging properly when shifting if it is too low) and brake pedal about the same but very slightly lower than yours (I don't normally use rear brake).

I'll give a try this coming WE, I wanna see how they work with my boots.

Do they flex a bit when you push on the pegs? They look very sturdy so it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks

PLEASE give a link to the set you purchased. A lot are popping up on Ebay and it you're needed the least amount of fiddling to work, for a guy like me who's very NOT mechanically inclined, I rather purchase these ;)

Hello Gents,

anyone knows if this ebay rearsets can work with GP pattern? I bought a Pani but will get it next week, so I dont really know how the installation will be when using GP shift pattern and keep the oem quickshifter. Thanks for any info

I've stood up whilst riding on Chinese pegs and one snapped in half, luck i wasn't going too fast. - AVOID.

don't know about the eBay ones but The hq racing ones that was talked about earlier work in gp shift can't go wrong for the money with those pretty decent quality as well.

Interesting.
I wouldn't do it my Ducati but good to hear people are having positive experiences. Might let my mates know for their cheaper track bikes.
I've designed a lot of stuff in solidworks and had it fabricated by random Chinese manufacturers I've found on the net out of aluminium and acetal and worked out real well. Quality wasn't 100% accurate but about 95% and for less than half the cost of having it done here was well worth it. So the Chinese are getting better and better as time goes on.

The peg or the peg's bolt? I changed the peg's bolt to proper quality high tensile bolts from day 1 because each peg is held only by one bolt (no redundancy) bearing full body weight.

No qualm at all so far. One year on.

Lowsided the other day (wet track).
The rearset plate got bent, and the peg got scraped. But other than that it held quite well. I bought another set and replaced only the bent plate (and retained the rest).
