On my 1199S, I completed a couple of mounts today. Thanks to suggestions across the forum, I have two different mounts for my radar detector and have posted the pictures below. Let me know if you need more pics.

The black center mount is probably my favourite, I had the dealer install it for me so I don't have a lot of details. I plan to velcro my radar detector right on top. This is exactly the product I purchased, I got it from Amazon but I'm sure you can get it from Adaptiv or elsewhere: Amazon.com: Adaptiv D-01-16 AdaptivMount Type D Sport Bike Mount: Automotive

Also, I installed just the base for a silver mount on the fork. As I was instructed, for the S you'll need to slip the wires past the base's opening but that was easy; you can do this yourself. It fits and it looks good. I may use it in the future. I also purchased it thru Amazon but I'm sure you can get it from Techmount or elsewhere: Amazon.com: Techmount Fork Tube Mount Kit - Silver - 53mm 70053SILVER: Automotive

Sweet! Just when I need that too! So its NOT a Ram 342 steering stem mount eh? Thats the only only one of its type I knew of that would go into that hole. Hmmm

Yep, not the ram mount. Brought the mount to my dealer, not sure what it took to install or exactly what he did but he didn't seem to have a problem; almost positive I couldn't not have installed it myself. He told me it would sit up a little bit high but that's cool as you can see from the pics.

Glad you like the mount from Adaptiv...told you it was awesome!

It's solid, it looks good, it's positioned almost perfectly and so adjustable. Thanks for the intel on this mount. :)

Good looking mounts!
The local trackday companies around here now require gopros to be hard tethered so I'll be looking for some ideas like these.

I like them! Nice install...can you get your dealer tech to give up the install process and post it up?

I couldn't get the RAM 342 to work since the top of the hole is much narrower than the shaft after you get past the lip.

On this mount mentioned in the OP, can the main section be shortened or replaced?

Chris

You won't have to shorten it...it fits perfectly on the 1199.

I purchased the MotorReva Ram Ball Mount Stem based on the recommendation of another member. I dropped it off at the dealer for install and at first glance the Tech said it was approximately 1/4" taller than stock. They are going to try to install it this week prior to picking up my new 1199. With that said I will be really pissed if the forum member was screwing with me.

Another option for those who already have a stem mount is to drill the hole out to 6mm, purchase a countersunk M6/60mm bolt (eBay!) and mount it above the steering damper.

So since we dont have the typical steering stem plug and this hole appears as if it goes down deep enough, you say that the Ram 342 wont expand wide enough to tighten up inside this hole eh? Regarding this Adaptiv mount, how is one able to connect the right mount to use a GPS or Cell phone onto it, and would that XGrip Universal Cell Mount hook up? Or any other mount. I looked over their impressive site but cant seem to figure this out (yes, dumb jarhead) It only appears that the Adaptive mount is made for their radar detectors. One day I will figure this all out. Thanks !

Gunny,
I will find out by the end of Wednesday if the MotoReva Stem Mount will fit successfully. If it does then the Ram Mount accessories will give us many options to mount GPS, iPhone and radar detectors.

I just tried sending them a msg but their "contact us" page doesnt work. Ya see what I mean by the steering stem hole being wide open, not like they depict it in their install PDF or video? We obviously dont have that steering stem plug with all those little holes in it.
Why the hell is something so easy so damn difficult. I dont want it mounted on either right or left clip on, I want the frigging thing in the middle! ....! -lol

Hey I sent Kyle an email with your comments and a bunch of other stuff I am getting ready to install on my bike. As you know he is the BEST in Northeast and the biggest bank of Ducati knowledge. I want this whole Jet Coating thing done too but will wait for off season and more info on which way to go.

Thanks for the msg bro. Look fwd to hearing from you!

Is your message directed towards me?
My Jet-Hot Coated full Termi's (including slip-ons) are scheduled to be installed by Kyle on Wednesday. He installed my Jet-Hot coated carbon fiber slip-ons on my 2012 Monster 1100 Evo and did a perfect job. I've had only a short conversation with him and he has a great personality on top of his Ducati expertise.

Also I will send an email to my Ducati tech and ask him about how he mounted the Adaptiv. I overheard him say he would have to first remove a lot of stuff but that's all I really know.

Yeah sorry I shouldve quoted you man. Make sure you tell Kyle you met me here on Forum, known him tight since 1994! Like to do Jet Coat too.
