A couple of mounts

Wow, people are worried about a stem mount fitting or not. . . As I said - its about 1/4" higher than the original stem mount but you gain the ability to essentially mount any ram ball mount you want. Here are two pictures of the MotoReva stem adapter, one of the ball and the other with a plate mount with some accessories on it.

BTW, how are you hooking up your electronics to power? I know you can just attach [fused] wires directly to +/- on the battery but I decided to go with an adapter, attach it to the connector, and splice it. Didn't want to pull apart the fairing or mess with the battery. Thoughts? Any other convenient power locations on the bike?

Ball

I purchased the MotorReva Ram Ball Mount Stem based on the recommendation of another member. I dropped it off at the dealer for install and at first glance the Tech said it was approximately 1/4" taller than stock. They are going to try to install it this week prior to picking up my new 1199. With that said I will be really pissed if the forum member was screwing with me.

Hey Super G-
When you purchased that mount, does it come with the actual "plug" or "nut" or whatever you want to call it which goes inside the hole on triple clamp? AND did it come with the ball also? On the MotoReva sight I cant figure out EXACTLY what it comes with. Also, how does it tighten itself up inside that well? I wonder what other mounts can be attached to the ball for use with radar, GPS unit, etc so it's universal? Not worried about a 1/4 inch higher since that probably ends up helping in long run. Have they installed it for you yet? Please show picks of whatever it is you intend on using it for when possible. Thank you.

Gunny,
This is the MotoReva product I bought and had the dealer install. MotoReva - Ducati Tools and Supplies
What you see is what MotoReva sent me. I don't know what it takes to install. As you can see the ball is mounted to it. I then went to the Ram Mount website and picked out the arm extension and base unit to hold the Radar Detector. The Arm I bought is too long so I ordered the 1" arm. (hasn't arrived yet) The base plate for the Radar Detector is kind of thick but it holds magnets. (I wish it was thinner for appearance sake) It also came with a thin magnet you stick to the bottom of the Radar Detector. So, when you want to remove the Radar Detector you simploy give it a little twist and off it comes. It's a solid solution. Ram offers many other accessories to mount onto the MotoReva Stem Mount Ball.

Anthem - how did you get that installed? Did you have to take apart the entire triple clamp?

trauma - loosen the triple clamp, loosen the stem mount with the a stem tool (special sprocket with holes that line up to the stem nut). remove the stem nut, insert new one, tighten to recommended torque amount, tighten the triple clamp. Dealer did it in about 15-20 minutes. Recommend you take it to the dealer unless you have the stem nut tool though one person reported the dealer charged him more than an hour to do.

I have the adaptiv mount above as well. It's about the same to install, but I think the motoreva mounts and removes cleaner (only 1/4" raised stem nut when the ball is removed) - and RAM is a lot more flexible since I can essentially mount anything I want. I've mounted a laptimer as well as a Contour camera on the stem before, though usually I just mount the camera.

Thanks to you I reached out to someone very high at MotoReva and spoke with them about my condition. I should be receiving the entire mount package you have (nut, ball, tools, arm, magnet platform (lol-didnt sound too good did it? ) comp'd. Also have another stellar offer from XXX City on any unit from Garmin (comp'd) so things are coming together slowly but surely. May need help w the mounting portion though. I have issues with my hands.
Thx for the assist~!

GPS Mount

Anrthem thanks for the response. I got the little Tom-Tom, and mounted it in the corner (image attached)

I did that too but I like how yours is upright. I velcro'd mine flat. How did you attache yours upright? I assume that upright position doesn't interfere with turning.

Turning, oops! No, it turns fine. I just used the smaller round disk that came with it. I removed the white paper which covers an adhesive back. I stuck that to the rubber access cover (which doubles a vibration absorber). Then I used the suction of the mounted bracked to stick to it. Then I tilted it to face me.

That reminds me. I think I have the same thing somewhere in the car. duh.

Knock on Door

I Just now received my box in mail. The owner of MotoReva was super kind enough to donate the entire mounting assembly to me due to my condition. I cannot thank him enough for such fast and gracious customer service! Now if I can just figure out how to mount this baby by myself!

Special thanks to Andrew Sexton for such a fantastic gift. All the best my friend!

Semper Fidelis!

Ebay has them, various sellers. Separately or in pairs (large/small), mostly black or red, your choice.
