2 options. The Cobra ($120) interfaces with an iPhone and an Android. It is awesome, in that you can be oistening to tunes, phone conversation, and it interupts with the alert. On my beemer I have a Valentine One ($399) (the best, for situational awareness, etc.) which recently came out with a Android interface, iPhone this Spring. Both require 12v in, not a big deal.

Another way to go, are these bright LED kits that shine in your eye from the dash, or a headset.

On my 1199S, I completed a couple of mounts today. Thanks to suggestions across the forum, I have two different mounts for my radar detector and have posted the pictures below. Let me know if you need more pics.

The black center mount is probably my favourite, I had the dealer install it for me so I don't have a lot of details. I plan to velcro my radar detector right on top. This is exactly the product I purchased, I got it from Amazon but I'm sure you can get it from Adaptiv or elsewhere: Amazon.com: Adaptiv D-01-16 AdaptivMount Type D Sport Bike Mount: Automotive

Also, I installed just the base for a silver mount on the fork. As I was instructed, for the S you'll need to slip the wires past the base's opening but that was easy; you can do this yourself. It fits and it looks good. I may use it in the future. I also purchased it thru Amazon but I'm sure you can get it from Techmount or elsewhere: Amazon.com: Techmount Fork Tube Mount Kit - Silver - 53mm 70053SILVER: Automotive

do you have 2 platforms up at one time? or do you move the center one? i guess my question is why 2?

I converted my stem to a dual mount, by using a RAM option, that coverts the center screw on an arm to antother ball. Radar mounted under faring on velcro (earleir post)

BTW Ken - that Techmount fork mount won't fit our beefier, stronger, tougher fork tubes of the base! :D

i have the solo it runs on batteries. whats this interface your talking about? is that just with the cobra? more details please i am slow with this stuff.

Both the Cobra and the Valentine need 12v run to them (not a big deal to do) They both can use your phone as the display/alert device using Bluetooth. So if you have a phone that you can hear either by wired or Bluetooth headset in your helmet, you can then hear the radar's warnings, and see if the phone is mounted (like mine) - voice or tones. Easy as in you just have to pull out the battery to attach the leads. There is just a cover that pops off, and a strap. Try it, you can't hurt anything doing it, and easy to put back. :)

Definitely a DIY job. Just take pics as you go with your phone so you can refer to them if/when you get stuck. You can also use the parts fiche on Jarel's site to get exploded diagrams that are very helpful since we can't get a service manual yet.

Don't even need to do that.

My 1199 came with a connector used to plug in a battery charger. Just get a mating connector (like what's on your battery charger), wire your cig adapter receptacle to it (or better yet, a BMW type Powerlet receptacle) and just plug it in there.

No need to get to the battery for this at all.

Yea it worked out he did have that installed, not all do.

I purchased the MotorReva Ram Ball Mount Stem based on the recommendation of another member. I dropped it off at the dealer for install and at first glance the Tech said it was approximately 1/4" taller than stock. They are going to try to install it this week prior to picking up my new 1199. With that said I will be really pissed if the forum member was screwing with me.

I also got this mount, waiting for dealer to install this weekend, will let you know how it goes... but becareful the ad says it comes with a tool which it doesnt!

You didn't look very hard :) I went to EBay and just searched "1199 socks" and the blacks were first (mobile version) 22.05.
