Being one of many that did this 14T thing (with AFAM kit), I might see how it goes, then go back to 15T front, and get a 41T for the rear and new map. If the discounted one won't fit my carrier, worse case I'm out $50 for this change.
If it smoothes out the low end, it probably makes it less powerful, hence the recommendation to change to a 41T sprocket. Makes sense ???
Not so sure. Last mapping upgrade smoothed it out quite a bit with no noticible loss of power. Was a grand improvement on all aspects of riding. And I'm not so sure this is an "upgrade". Dealer tells me mapping works fine for either 39T or 41T. This may be simply providing an option to people like me who don't track it and would happily trade top speed for some mid range power/low speed smoothness, and I'd say very cool of them to design an ECU mapping that can handle either option. Could be merely saying, look, we've done what we can for you low speeders with the ECU, if it's not enough for you, here is another option.
And really, I'm not sure what they could do to make this bike less powerful, at least where I could see it, besides chaining it too a house.
Re reading the memo and specifically this part..
"Please be informed that the 41-tooth rear sprocket, the corresponding drive chain and the specific ECU
software will be available from the end of March at a discounted price. For further details please refer
to the Service Bulletin that will be released by the end of March."
Makes me think there is a new map to go with the 41T....
The map is available now. new heat shield will be EO Feb. and sprocket chain will be EO March
