AGV Announces PISTAGP Helmet

If your a size Large in the Gp-Tech,then you would be the same size Large in this Pista GP. The inside shape is slightly different, hugging your skull more. You do get a moon shaped piece of foam that slots into a pocket at the top of the neck area, and also 4 small round spongey discs that can be removed from the inside liner.I removed these for a custom fit. The helmet does however sit really high on the cheekbones, leaving more of your forehead exposed. This helps with the extra visibility when your in a tuck position.

Hope this helps guys

Mmmh, interesting thanks.

My RX7 Corsair is an XL, but with tighter cheek pads and scull cap. L wouldn't even go on

Shoei X-Spirit II would be a L, with some custom fit work.

GP-Tech, both L & XL fitted equally well, with their guts swapped. LOL, not sure why the shop tried this.

So, maybe a PistaGP L, with foam bits removed

I think you could get smaller cheek pads from like RevZilla.

I dont think the smaller/thinner cheek pads would help,as the roof of the Pista GP is really tight around the head! The inner linning is about half the thickness compared to the GP-Tech,so it is best if you can to try on before you hand over the cash:rolleyes:

So, a third version of Pista GP will be available in the UK.

Black carbon, without all the yellow graphics, save a small VR46 logo on the chin bar.

I'd like to see that, thanks for the update.

Just to confirm, will the Corsa model have vents that can be opened/closed by the rider while on the bike and not the removable foam inserts?

Thanks!

It looks like cheap black plastic ;)

Good points. This one looks like gloss so will likely come with the mohawk already attached (prob omitted from the press photos since Rossi can't race in a mohawk) and a coupon inside for 10% off chrome wheels or the DP extended swingarm. Is a matte version in the works for the non-Folgers drinking ducatisti? That will match our satiny Panigale while we relax at Starbucks..

Hey, don't knock Starbucks, I finally have a reason to hang there - at least whilest in LA:

Starbucks to add beer, wine to menu at select coffee shops - Los Angeles Times

Believe me, not a knock! Panigale owners are well known for their affinity toward Starbucks and other coffee houses. You will still fit in there with your Pani and matte finish helmet, but if you go glossy and chrome out your bike you might want to look for an establishment that serves Thunderbird or boxed wine.

Looks like I touched a nerve... I am just having a little fun with some of the strong opinions here.

Nah, this is just one of my favorite topics! Trauma apparently agrees since he keeps trolling my threads. At least we can all agree matte finish carbon is the way to go and glossy is best used when you are going for that "Fast and Furious" look. This guy below is definitely the target market for glossy carbon.

No - you mention matt or glossy, and you turn on a switch that starts up this whole discussion (P.S. Matte rocks, Glossy sucks)

matt and gloss finish will be good on certain application and highly subjective, not worth the arguement.

now my question: how soon can i get my hand on one of these damn thing???!!!

If anyone is interested,iv sourced a second AGV Pista GP 'Project 46' in size Large for sale. Its taken me alot of persuation to have it shipped direct from Italy early (the official release date for UK is mid March at earliest),and im looking for £1000GBP. I wear a medium in any helmet, and that seems to be true of the PistaGP too. It fits snug, but is still very comfortable at first impression. I'm not gonna ride with it today, it's a little cold and still a bit wet out here in North Carolina today.

Strange thing, it has this spandex type piece of fabric that goes across the inside of the helmet when it's not on. Then when you put it on it goes across the top of the forehead. You can see it here when it's not on:

And if you look back to the pic where I have the helmet on, you'll see that band of spandex fabric goes across my forehead, a bit like a sweat band, when the helmet is on. I think because the porthole is so large on this helmet, your forehead would be prominently featured if that piece of black fabric isn't there to cover it. So I think it's a cosmetic thing designed in.

So far, the things that stand out are the quality build and materials of the helmet, fit, and the look of course. So far, very happy I ordered it. I even like that it doesn't have the DOT sticker on it actually. I'll use my X-11 for MSF courses and track days. Then again, I'm moving to Germany for the next three years in April, so the DOT sticker won't mean anything over there. :D
