When I first saw the spandex thing in your picture, I thought you were suppose to take it off?

Thanks for the review and pictures.

I can see from your background that you are a soldier? and PCSing to Germany? Good luck to you over there and have fun!

I ordered mine from Champion Helmet in the Netherlands, and it arrived today:

I wear a medium in any helmet, and that seems to be true of the PistaGP too. It fits snug, but is still very comfortable at first impression. I'm not gonna ride with it today, it's a little cold and still a bit wet out here in North Carolina today.

Strange thing, it has this spandex type piece of fabric that goes across the inside of the helmet when it's not on. Then when you put it on it goes across the top of the forehead. You can see it here when it's not on:

And if you look back to the pic where I have the helmet on, you'll see that band of spandex fabric goes across my forehead, a bit like a sweat band, when the helmet is on. I think because the porthole is so large on this helmet, your forehead would be prominently featured if that piece of black fabric isn't there to cover it. So I think it's a cosmetic thing designed in.

So far, the things that stand out are the quality build and materials of the helmet, fit, and the look of course. So far, very happy I ordered it. I even like that it doesn't have the DOT sticker on it actually. I'll use my X-11 for MSF courses and track days. Then again, I'm moving to Germany for the next three years in April, so the DOT sticker won't mean anything over there. :D

Congrats, nice hat. The headband is strange, interested to hear how you like it when riding. The eyeport is huge like you said, makes it looks like you didn't pull the helmet on all the way.

Nice lid, thanks for the pics and review.

Question, does it seem to restrict your downward view any, say when your standing ?

Ok so I just got mine other day.

I love it. I think design is good, super light, and the vision is great.

BUT, I guess being super light has its negatives. I unhooked the check pads on right and left. On right, plastic (female side) broke off from the helmet along with (male side).... It is like zip tie plastic material. Disappointed and little mad at myself. I do think they could of done better job on that portion since it is suppose to be undone when needed. I DID NOT put much strength on it and in fact I was being very careful being a new helmet.

I have Ducati Arai corse V helmets and its my first AGV.

Any thoughts? I don't think I can get this fixed being in USA. I guess it wouldn't matter too much when my cheek is on and wearing the helmet.

I will also look into when it comes out USA and maybe buy another if construction is better? Hah.

Between this and the headband thing I think this is a "skip" for me. I'll probably get a GP Tech. I tried a couple of them on and was very impressed with the attention to detail, comfort and quality. This one I'm not so sure about.

Dude, don't forget the Corsa version. Vents, more lining etc.....

Yeah, I know, but I just can't get over the ridiculous spandex forehead cover to deal with the fivehead syndrome thing. Couple that with the vent issues (maybe not on the corsa version), the quality issues (broken pieces above) and the advertising all over it (the V12 badge thread comes to mind) and I don't think this helmet is for me.

I hope the GP Tech prices drop when this thing hits the market and I can pick up a Rossi donkey at fire sale prices! :)

Agree re fire sale prices. It's annoying to see how much some of these helmets get discounted, still not getting sold at a loss.

The Corsa will have working vents and a more touring spec liner, so a much better proposition. Also, more colours, including solids and the LE.

ok, I'll calm down and not decide until I get my hands on a corsa model. :)

I really, really hate the idea of that spandex headband though. Not only does it seem like a bodged on hack, but I think it would wear out or get gross in the summer in no time.

The reason I was trying to take of the pads off was to remove the spandex headband...and as I mentioned above happened.

I think I can understand for the headband if you are a pro racer and get a new helmet every race and few helmets standing by as reserve all the time.

Headband is counter force to chin strap? to hold the helmet on your head littler better ? is my only assumption.

I am still pissed about that plastic breaking off.

I can understand the reservations some of you guys have about ordering one of these right now. I can only suggest waiting for the Corsa, or until the Pista is available in the US. I haven't ridden with the helmet yet, but I've put it on a few times, and the headband thing doesn't bother me yet. It seems to go right into place when you put on the helmet without much undue attention paid to it. I stupidly didn't order a tinted screen with the helmet, and now to order one would add 35 Euro in shipping costs. So I guess I'll wait until April when I'm in Germany, there's a Dainese store right where I'll be, and pick one up there with no shipping costs.

@youngR, really sorry to hear that piece broke on yours, and thanks for the heads up. I will try to be extra, extra careful when taking out the padding. And yes, I'm Army too, headed to Stuttgart. Autobahn and Nurburgring here I come! Are you around Bragg? Also, were you able to remove that headband thing?

Regarding the headband on this lid,you CAN remove it as its only held in place by velcro behind the cheekpads.

Hope this doesnt put anyone off from buying,as its a sick bit of kit!

I dunno. I can kind of tell by the pics above that it has the potential to look funny with all that forehead showing. Anybody want to post a pic of it on without the built in burka?

You can take them off as mentioned above. I am not in Bragg anymore. Germany would be a awesome assignment.

And yes, be extra careful for sure with helmet.

It does look funny. It makes you look like you have a giant forehead.

On a more serious note, you just need a black visor and its sorted :D

I really like this helmet but the only agv I ever had, the liner gave up the ghost and shredded within the first year. so never again.

I will have to agree that the Arai seem to be built like a tank.
