I'm looking for a small +/- portable air compressor for tires that will ideally work with the battery connector on the 1199. 12V and AC. I have a HD branded one but it draws too many amps and I sold the HD. Just curious what you guys use.

I bought one some time ago at an autoparts store and converted the cigarette lighter plug to alligator clamps, works well, actually carry it in my goldwing.

When I do long rides...I carry some Co2 air canisters with me and my usual tire patch up repair kit...

I assume you're connecting the alligator clamps to the battery terminals. The battery must be easier to get to on the wing then the pani.

that's correct, on the pani you can remove just the center side fairing to get to the battery. Tho my suggestion would be to convert the ends of the compressor (posit and neg) to ue the rectangular plug that attaches to the battery fro use with the battery tender (I think most dealers fitted this plug to the pani at time of purchase, just make sure to have the lead to the right one.

If you remember my issue with the Ducati charger that I thought wasn't working. I actually blew the inline fuse and think it was from the small HD compressor I had. The inline fuse is only 3A and most of the portable compressors I see require 15A. I think I'm just going to get a small 120V compressor for the garage.

Ah, good point, on my setup the battery tender, the fused part is on the cord coming from the tender to the plug, so the one hooked up to the battery doesn't have a fuse.

Probably the easiest solution for on the road, since space is always an issue, is one of the tire repair kits that have co2 inflators, bmw makes a very good one.

I carry one on my FJR. I bought it because of it's size.

Can't tell you how long it takes to fill from scratch as I've never done it.

Never takes long to top up by a few psi.

Only thing, it doesn't have is an in-line pressure gauge, but comes with a manual one.
