Hi

Anyone run into issues of dealer not wanting to flash bikes due to emission laws? I recently purchased a slip on akrapovic from one dealer that gave me a great deal. Brought my bike in my local dealer for the water pump leak and to flash bike(I installed exhaust myself). I get a call today Explaining they can’t do it. Ducati won’t let them. apparently it has to be a full race bike for ducati approval of the UpMap. theres tons of videos showing bikes being flashed with no issues. How do these dealerships flash bikes with no issues? I have a feeling my dealer is being difficult because I didn’t buy it from them. I guess my choice is either the t800 or find another dealer. Unfortunately where I am in Canada there isn’t many dealers.

Technically, yes....dealers can get fined major for installing aftermarket exhausts (in some states) and/or flashing with an upmap. Dealer probably is just being difficult for the reason you mentioned already (didn't buy it or have it installed by them). I don't think ducati cares about what dealer is installing an upmap on a bike.

If you don't have another dealer, then you may just need to go another route. If performance is what you're after, that would be your best bet anyway. If you're just after sound and looks, you can always just ride it without the upmap. It isn't "needed" to operate problem free. Akrapovic designed their exhaust to work just fine without a tune/upmap.

My dealer flashed my bike. Receipt says "installed accessories" here in California.

I bought a Streetfighter V4 from my dealer and a Akra full system online only because of the taxes. 8% on 5k is rather significant. I installed it myself. My dealer told me for the flash they had to register the serial number of the exhaust to my VIN, I'd have to trailer it to the dealer and have the blinkers removed...yada yada yada.

The signed waiver only applied if you bought it from them and they installed it. The latter of which is $1k.

Keep in mind, all for a map that isn't the best and keeps the throttle position limits in place. The dyno results don't support the cost involved.

I bought a T-800 and flashed it myself. F Ducati USA.

Crazy question....my bike currently has the Akra upmap loaded. If I were to go with T-800, is my "stock" tune the Akra tune?

I believe the t-800 simply saves the tune (whatever tune that is). The user can then toggle back and forth between the original tune and the purchased tune. I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m mistaken.

What’s standard procedure for bringing your bike in for service, use the T800 to flash back to stock or just leave it flashed and tell them not to update factory software?

I just re-flash my T-800 map of choice after.

The only question I have is if it matters what throttle mode I'm in when I flash? Is that the mode that takes the flash?

it updates all modes no matter what mode your in on the dash

So is the only difference between the modes, speaking just of the engine ones, the throttle position? Is the "Low" engine setting just a limit on the maximum throttle opening?

there is no specifics given about what it does in each mode

So I got a update...
They will now flash it, but the bike will be deemed of road use only. I asked about my remaining warranty(expires aug 2021). They sent a email back that my warranty wont be effected. Has anyone gone down this road? I have it In a email saying it's still covered but i am still concern.
