Akrapovic evo exhaust and up-map

Why is the butterfly valve connected in the first place? Something does not sound right. I installed it myself and removed the servo motor and valve. It isn't needed for the akra system and should not be throwing any codes at all. If it's not a big deal to you, then live with it. If it was me, I'd go back n tell them to learn how to install the exhaust and follow some simple instructions.

did you get a feeling that the bike has less power with this exhaust? I can probably feel it, I can also feel it is considerably smoother

not even remotely. i personally think it feels more consistent in the mid range.

but I've yet to take it to a dyno to validate my thoughts. mostly because it is a pain in the ass to do that in california.

My butt dyno doesn't feel that it has less power. It is a smoother powerband and maybe the reduced mid range drop may be what you're experiencing since the power doesn't kick u in the ass like before. This is just speculation of course.

Amazing looking graph, a little hard to believe.

I have spent days tuning this bike on the dyno. I had Termignoni slip-ons before and they made 185hp with the tuneboy software. But the Akrapovic made 10hp more in the mid rpm area then the Termi slip ons. The bike is smoother at low rpm with this exhaust. You can actually keep the rpm's down below 4k rpm with out feeling like the engine is chugging, and it actually is responsive down low also. It even blows the slip ons away in sound.

It just changed in the last week. We were selling them at the same price as Motomummy, but I can't do that any more because the price went up.
i would imagine if your priced jumped then motomummy would have to follow threw as well. they have to make some sort of money. i know when i purchased my kit from motomummy they only had 2 kits left before needing to order new units. I'm sure that new stock will come with a raised priced. They prob have not updated the site do to not having any in stock.

Everyone's price went up, we all get them from the same suppliers.

UP-Map key

Hello everyone

Just to give a nod to what has already been said before with regards to clearing up the confusion about using the up map key dongles, as follows:

I had originally only bought the Akrapovic slip-on with my new 1299, and have now decided to go for the full system by upgrading the manifold to Akrapovic as well.

The dealer told me, since there are 2 different maps for each, for the slip on and for the full system, in order and if one chooses to upgrade to the Akra full system and it's new corresponding map the Akra Slip-on map key is needed in order to delete/download it back onto the dongle and once done to only then be able to upload the new full system Akra map.

So please make sure not to lose those up map keys, just in case you might want to sell your bike and keep the Akra system to be fitted on your new bike, so when putting back your stock system make sure to download back your Akra map onto your dongle!

So if I replace my Termi full system with a Akra full system I will need to remove my Termi Racing evo map and replace it with the map supplied by Akra with the full system ?

Yes you should, but you don't have to.

They are two different systems. It is highly unlikely that the mapping/timing is the same.

The bike will still be better than stock mapping if you have a termi map on an Akro system, but not as optimized termi on termi or Akro on Akro. Definitely not as optimized as a rapid bike or tuneboy tune tailored to your Duc.

I haven't heard of someone using an Akro map on termis.

So if I replace my Termi full system with a Akra full system I will need to remove my Termi Racing evo map and replace it with the map supplied by Akra with the full system ?

Does the full Akra come with the akra up map incl do you know ?

There is no up map if you are just buying a full Akra Evo system from a 3rd party reseller.

Remember it is designed to give gains just by fitting. Having said that I did not notice any difference except for sound.

It was only after the tune boy dyno session that I noticed the big difference. Look up my old posts about it. I put in quite a detailed post about fitting and also impressions.

Error codes

I picked up my upgraded with a full Akra system 1299S today, and was told by the dealer that since I am one of the first to have a full system fitted it was more complicated to fit than anticipated.

It had taken the dealer a full day's work to sort out all of the error codes that kept coming up I was told. It had something to do with having to recode the gear position indicator and other error codes.

The dealer said it was a learning curve for them, so to any DIY enthusiast out there I would highly recommend to take things slow and easy when fitting your own full blown Akra system!

Adrian - I fitted the full Akra Evo exhaust to my 1299 a couple of weeks ago (not via Ducati, no Upmap). The dealer is correct that the install is a bit more difficult than the 1199, partly because more of the standard exhaust is welded but also because of the redesigned aft heat shield which is a pain to get off and (I think!) the fan housing was redesigned which made getting to the front header bolts a bit more difficult, I ended up dropping mine for easier access which means unbolting the battery housing.

Regarding error codes, the only things you unplug are the flapper valve servo (no error code) and the fan (to remove the cable from the servo housing), you then plug this back in again. I can't see any reason for error codes, unless they did the whole install with the ignition on and even then I'd be surprised.

Took me around 6hrs but that was with a bit of trial and error, surprised it took the shop 7hrs!

I hope they gave you some lube.

Wow, ok good for you!

No idea what took them so long on mine, but to be fair to the dealer (Metropolis of Albert Embankment) when I checked the invoice they had only charged me three hours of labor and that had included the first service as well.

Anyway, it's all done now and so well worth it, the full system really brings out the full potential of the bike!

PS are you ok with not having a new Akra upmap, or are you perhaps going to tune your own one on a dyno?

Sounds like your dealer is as sharp as the San Diego ones haha.

3hrs of labour including the first service is a great deal. Yes, planning on Tuneboy and a custom map, software should be available soon!
