Akrapovic Exhaust install Ahhhhhh

This has been posted before. NO control unit comes with the Akrapovic. Akrapovic's method of supplying the proper tune is a factory one. You must go to a dealer. The dealer is able to take your VIN and the serial number of the exhaust and get tune file that only they can load with their factory programmer.

I see! The description on listing is throwing me off. I'm a newbie comes into Ducati universe, and thank you for edification

Anyone complains about the factory akrapovic map?

As far as what comes in the box for the exhaust, you get the mounting pieces, the carbon fiber heat guard, the sprint air filter and directions on the install. That's pretty much it. There is no control unit that comes with it. The t800 is completely seperate and is if you want a different upmap compared to the akrapovic upmap

Honestly, if the dealers wants to charge too much money, I may have to just go with your route, buying the t800. Which gets one map and clear engine lights.

Anyone has a ball park dealer charged in hourly rate or flat fee?

This thread touches on a bunch of things that leave me with a few questions:

1. T800 programmer. It states that it comes with one free map that you then get updates for. Is there a list of available maps? I never see a list posted. The only two I have every seen discussed are maps for the Termignoni exhaust. I've seen reference to a map for the Termignoni slip on and the Termignoni full system. Are those the only two V4 maps available for the T800?

2. Heat. This is discussed a lot on this forum and I've never seen anyone state they have it solved. Also, I see comments for fixing it by trying to lower engine temps through increased cooling, etc. This does not make sense to me. You are sitting a couple inches away from the rear cylinder exhaust pipes that can get as high as 1200 degrees. How is an engine running at 220 degrees the problem or the fix? This is what I plan to do this winter to try and solve the heat problem. I'm about 70% confident it will make the heat manageable (I want this bike to be comfortable in stop and go traffic):
- wrap the rear exhaust pipes in header wrap. This will stop a lot of the radiant head coming off the pipe.
-put on an exhaust system that removes the catalytic converter. The cat creates a restriction that traps heat between the cat and the cylinder head. Free flowing exhaust reduces that heat.
-put heat shielding on the bottom of the seat.

If anyone has done these 3 things, especially the header wrap, I would love to hear their experience.

In stop n go traffic, nothing is going to "reduce" temps. You can wrap the pipes, remove the cats/aftermarket exhaust, water wetter n whatever else. The engine produces heat. LOTS of it. The subframe heatsoaks n absorbs a ton of heat which is what ends up burning some peoples inner thighs. That frame metal is right near your inner thighs. The only thing I've heard of helping with this is either replacing the subframe with an aftermarket option made of a different n more heat resistant material which will reduce the amount of heatsoak or get carbon subframe covers (1x99 series bikes). I'm not sure about v4's. These "solutions" aren't necessarily reducing heat. They're simply redirecting that heat elsewhere. Water wetter, motul mocool, engine ice don't reduce the heat that you feel comin off the bike and if they actually do, it is nowhere near noticeable. ScrapperX and I flushed my coolant out few weeks ago n replaced it with mocool and it didn't change a thing, at least nothing that I notice. Still hot as fawkkkkkkkk in stop n go.

What mhaddad did above is the best. A dyno tune is always best. But there are very few options for that right now, it is very expensive, and I have no one around here that can do it.

Because of that, I am going with the T800 Termi tune right now, but will switch to the rapidbike EVO when it is released for the V4.

Question 1. Everything is done through the phone app. That's how updates work. You just reconnect it to your v4.

Question 2. I'm using engine ice, it helps a little yes and I am using a lot of heat wrap around the bike instead of wrapping pipes.

A great tune is pricy but it’s totally worth it, you just can’t realize it u till you pull the trigger

Have your tried the brentuning? I have heard they have issues with the V4? from speaking to the dealer mech, he flat out told me to hold off until they can fix the issues IE running to lean or rich. Either the termi, or akra upmap is the best bet.

Thats what i was told.

BrenTuning cured my 1299S w Akra SlipOn. It’s smooth now and shifts better than factory. This is coming off of an Akra UpMap.

I’d hope the V4s are smoother and don’t have the knocking/bucking that a factory tuned 1299 has.

My service writer is a racer and told me “no way” when I was asking abt dynoJet, but a few months later when I discovered BrenTuning, he said they reputable. However, on his V4S I believe he’s running Akra UpMap with full Akra system

Anyway, BrenTuning has great reps monitoring emails and they are on sale right now. But if your V4 is running smooth then maybe it’s not necessary like it is on the big twin

It looks like the jury is still out on the brentuning for the V4. I haven't seen anyone say it makes the bike run badly. In fact, everyone says it runs great. But there have been a couple documented dynos where it increased peak HP only 1 or 2 vs the claimed 10hp. Adding an exhaust, air filter and tuning should see in that 10hp range (at least according to Ducati with the the Akra going from 214HP to 226hp).

What people haven't been publishing is the before and after AFR's. That tells you really quickly how good the tune is (at least from a fueling perspective). Timing is a whole other matter.

At the 3 minute mark, the gentleman who just road a BrenTuned V4S back to back with his stock tuned V4S gives his thoughts.

I know it’s marketing material for BrenTuning but I share the same observations after having my 1299S flashed
BMWs race bike benefits bigly from the flash

It’s kinda like the same deal as Ducati Spacers cleaning up throttle free play. You don’t know how great it is until you do

Agreed my good sir, everything's comes down to "YOU" all these companies throw a marketing pitch but let's see real world results. 650IB is guy that uses different maps on his bikes. Check out his channel on youtube.

Now I just need to find a non fishy website to lower the pixel rating on my pics to upload for you guys.
