Exactly. The real decision is why even buy the Panigale. For 20K you can get 2 Jap bikes.

Yes you can, but its no fun just buying stock bikes! Plus, you only have 2 butt-cheeks and they are attached so for me, quality and then improving upon it to suit your personal taste is the way to go.

That, or just buy an SL!

I was kidding - I have put as much as most into my bike - and you cannot truly justify any of it. Unless.. you race the bike, and have reached your absolute potential with the stock setup, are not winning, and you need something additional to enable you to win. (disclaimer: does no apply to CF and other bling devices).

I have had the Akrapovic system sat in my garage for a couple of months now. I was going to fit it to my 1199 S however, I will be upgrading to an 1199 R in march so didn't want to fit it to then take it off again and re-install blah, blah, blah....... (fustrating having it just stare at me all the while though!).

My dealer says he will fit it free of charge on my first service but thinks I will need a power commander.

I guess 1) Will the Termi up-map sufice? and 2) If i do require a fuelling module which one would be recommended for an 1199. I just want a simple bang, finished not another million settings to choose from!

Cheers,
Luke

P.S. A top tip to get an Akrapovic Evolution line titanium system on the cheap! Mine cost me just over £3000 when I had my 1199 S. As mentioned I am upgrading to the 1199 R therefore I now have a new full Termi system to sell for around £2000 once my Akra goes on! :D So basically my Akra system has cost me £1000.............. Well that's what I told the wife!!!

The latest Ducati 1199 map does add a bit of midrange, but the peak remains essentially the same.

However...,

Dave, the Redline Motorsports in Yorktwon, VA USA Engineer/Owner, is the brains behind the REXXER (USA Distributor) flash tuning in the USA. Redline is leading the industry with Ducati, Moto Guzzi, and MV Agusta flash tuning. Dave is working on new tuning for their 1199 test mule, an all-stock (for now) base 1199. While still a work-in-progress, I have posted their showroom stock vs first tune adjustment before-after dyno plot for your info... When Dave is satisfied that the gains and driveability are maximized, the map will be available through Redline and several other resellers.

Thank you for this post! I was on an 899 forum and the moderator was arguing with me about the info I got. Saying I was completely wrong and had no clue as to what I was talking about. I mentioned redline does an ECU remap and he basically called me a moron so I verbally insulted him and got banned lol. My mechanic at my dealer suggested If I get the Akra that I have the ECU pulled and sent to redline for a remap which would run around 300.. Would love to throw this post in his face! Then again he went from riding a honda CBR 600 to his first Ducati. Noobie in my eyes.

Everyone's situation is different. I love speed! My first car was a 94 firebird formula, 383 stroker kit and that car was mean! I wanted more speed. Got my first bike, 05 R6. 3 years with her and never wanted to go back to 4 wheels again. Upgraded to an R1. Loved it. 2007, I injured my back badly. I had 2 back surgeries. I now have titanium screws and rods running down my lower spine (spinal fusion at L3,L4 and L5 S1). Never thought I would be able to ride again. Luckly, being young I healed well and Have no problem riding a sport bike. 2 years I sat and did nothing but have my back opened up and recovery twice! I have always wanted a ducati. this is for me! Most of you wouldn't understand the emotional toll it takes on a person going threw that. I will spare no expense and money is not an issue. This is my toy! Something i have waited for for a very long time. An 1199 is out of league. to much bike for me.

Finally got my full akra system installed (+ K&N flter) and tuned with tune boy by my hometuner.
Unfortunately no comparison with the old original system. Only the comparison between the untuned akra system with a tune boy akra basemap and fully tuned tuned akrapovic system (each cilinder separately tuned).

For a full comparison it would have been best to have had the original graph as well. This can also not be compared with other benches. The result is however satisfactory and I'll experience the difference next weekend on the track.
I was mostly interested in the improvement in the lower rpm's between 4500 and 6500 but the improvement in the higher rpm regions is also quite impressive.
