Having pimped the shit out of 4 Panigales, I decided to focus on a completely different and new direction: Today I received a brand new Petronas FP1 (actually 15 years old with 0 km on the clock).

It's got a 900ccm 3cyl engine, all fairings are CF, frame and fuel tank aluminium.

I'm not sure whether it's going to be a track whore or a show bike. Ill have to take her apart first and see what's missing, corroded, stolen, etc...

I coudn't start her yet, there's a hell lot of work to do first. But I am already shocked about the gear box: Compare to a Panigale, Ducati gear boxes are like made out of concrete, just terrible. Just slightly tipping the gear selector lever on this bike immediately switches the gear, no force needed at all.

How do you like the FZR? That was my first bike ever (got it in 2002) but it was the RRSP version... loved that little bike! I wish I still had it

handling is great, tires on it suck a bit. engine takes a lot getting used to - i've always ridden twins / singles in my life so far.

it's a cool bike, not sure if i will keep it though.
(bought as street replacement for the pani, but i found a quick conversion way, so i will probably be doing dual duty on it)

[/threadjack - sorry Gecko]

@all the good old pals on this forum: Thanks for your heartfelt condolences :)
I started to take this thing apart today... Was a bit like undressing "the" alien.

Breathtaking technology, everthing so simple, even though this bike never came out of its prototype phase. Removing the fairings takes about 1 minute....

I guess I am going to build a website to show details of the bike and progress of my work. I'll keep you guys posted!
