I just purchased the 2013 iMac 27" model and got a smokin deal on it too!

Have to say it is by far the best item I have ever used in my computer world!!

I got my wife's for her BD yesterday and got a teachers discount! My daughter thought it was just a monitor :)

Do you ever pay retail for ANYTHING?!

Btw, I have a macbook pro retina. If you really really want to do some windows stuff you can always do the virtual machine route (Fusion, Parallels, or VirtualBox if ur on a budget) bootcamp would be the way to go if you want to game.

Mac Thoughts: out of all of the mac's i've owned (converted in 2007 when they ruined the Dell XPS') I think my favorite have been the newest revision of the macbook air. It's fast, good battery life, and super light. If I would ever be forced to just own one computer that would probably be it. This assumes a comfy lifestyle with not having to use it like a Toughbook.

I have had my 27" iMac, 1tb fusion drive, 32gb ram, i7 quad core 3.4 ghz chip with 3.9ghz turbo boost and 2gig graphics card for two weeks but have yet to see any magic in it.

The screen is naturally more saturated (not always a good thing) and not as crisp as my pro photo 17" (brain fade on the way home, cannot remember the make)

Further, having learned all the short cuts for my old PC the iMac is not any easier to use. Yup it certainly is faster in processing power but that is it.

I am not regretting the change (I need the process speed for editing HD video), other than for the £ 1,200 I have had to spend on new software (CS6 etc etc) and two keyboards / mouse and magic pad (not sure what I prefer ATM) but not seeing the Apple magic I was promised.

If I was starting out with a new computer, the iMac is perhaps more intuitive, but as a seasoned computer user, hmm, not convinced it is a great leap forward.

I kind of felt the same way about some of the apple products but after a while using the term magic for their technology is really a poor choice because of the expectations behind magic.

I switched back in the day due to the build quality of the machine and I was drawn by OS X being a unix based system. As the new products roll out I see them pushing the boundaries of design but I'm not liking the merge in OS X and iOS that appears to be taking.

I run Macs at home. Pretty much the whole condo is an iCondo. 3 MacBook Airs, 1 Mac mini, 1 Apple TV, 1 AirPort Extreme, 1 iPad, 1 iPad mini, 2 iPhone 5s.

I'm a Windows server admin by day, I don't own a single Windows computer. People always find that odd, and I say it's pretty simple. I fix Windows for a living, it will keep me employed for a long time, and I don't like to take my work home with me. Macs just work :) .
