I think I remember that now. Thanks to both of you for reporting results. Did you get the street version or were you able to get a race version with no cutouts for lights? I would be interested in a race version.

Street version for me but I think WAF has a race version with lights covered.

So do you run this set all the time then? I'm guessing so based on your post saying you have a pristine set of OEM plastic in a box.

Do you have a link to a gallery with high res pictures we can peruse of your bodywork mounted? Also, did it come pre-drilled or did you have to mount it yourself? I kind of prefer the un-drilled so you can be sure of fitment by drilling mounting holes for your actual bike.

Yes stanmart that's the part but you also may break the magnesium fairing bracket which is another chunk of $$$. The part you show is for non-led lights for the 1199 base. The led lights are a lot more expensive. Then you have the fairing bracket magnesium that's another chunky of change.

I have the "cheap Chinese fairings"
And they are great quality for the price. All the holes were in the right place and the paint job was awesome. It's a one crash kit but at that price, good deal.

Yeah no way you slice it the oem parts are hella expensive.

I do like the tricolore look though. Might get them regardless. They look good.

I've bought them before. Not for the 1199 but for my R1 that needed fairings after a crash. The fit was OK - not exact OEM fit but will eventually bolt on. The paint job is disappointing. Bottom line - if you're buying for the looks - dont do it. The paint quality is no where close to OEM and has a multitude of defects.

Also just an FYI. These would also be a bad choice for race/track plastics. As you might know - ABS plastic does not hold well in a crash.

Do the right thing and get a fiberglass body. These will last a couple of crashes.

From what i have been reading the plastic fit has much improved. The paint work as well. I mean yeah not oem good but still looks good. All abs injected plastic. The pics look good but u never know until u get them on your bike. How long ago did u try them? Which ones did u go with?

I still don't know if I'm going to track this bike at all. If i did it would be a once and awhile thing. Oem parts are crazy expensive. Might have to leave this bike to street.

My whole point in even wanting the cheap fairings is to not have to switch racing trim out. I hated doing it on my old r1. Plus race trim does not work with stock exhaust right? Anyways don't want to go that route. Would be too much hassle for the amount i ride the track which isn't that often.

I might just end up getting another track bike if i decide to go more. Something cheap. Might look for a newer 636 highway wreck. They are out there. I found a white one for like 5k.

Decisions.

Sorry, no detailed pics.

Yes they are pre-drilled and fit is as good as OEM. It's not only a crash kit to me, street riding wears on them too. With all the consruction going on I already have quite a few stone chips.

Great find, that's cheaper than the Motoholders tubular version and looks better too, although the tubular version can be bent back into place. Think I'm going to get that for my track setup too as those OEM magnesium parts are no joke to replace.

Nothing oem is.

I found a couple websites with used parts much cheaper. Id go used for sure if i broke anything.

Stan your plan is to put it on the track with the bodywork right, and leave it on so you can ride street also.

I'll be honest Brother, and I know those that ride track will back me up on this.

Panigale's because they essentially have no frame don't crash well often.

At the track you never know what's going to happen, and you certainly don't know if some wanna-be Rossi is going to punt you off the track.

It could happen. You take great care of your baby. Why risk it? A bad crash could cost you several thousand.

Buy a beater track toy for 4K, and then have no worries (and peace of mind).

I see 06' and up R6's for sale all the time on the race boards for under 5K. I know a guy selling an 04' R1 right now for $3500.

We have talked about this. Buy a beater and I'll help you get it setup.

I'll also be the first admit that I don't have the balls to put my Panigale on the track.

rule of thumb dont track what you cant afford to wreck. i went with an 07 zx6r got it for a steal had 2k miles on it. runs great all i needed was new tires and an exhaust. well i didnt need the exhaust but i got a full yosh. best thing i ever did. no insurance on it the bike has no lights or anything now. if i wreck thats it move on. hopefully i wont.

fyi i know guys that run the 1199r the 1098 bayliss (yes bayliss edition) on the track. i wouldnt but thats just me.
