Anyone think bar end sliders help with vibration and tingly hands?

I know you said you covered this base; but here goes. I had a similar problem with my hands after switching from my Street Fighter to the Panigale. I cured my hand problem with a lighter grip on the bars and consistent work on my "core" at the gym. I now regularly do 150-200 mile days no problem.

Yea, I've been trying a lot Ron haha. That's awesome you got it fixed. I can't imagine 200 miles on my Sofia at this time haha. I'll get there though!!

I'm working on using my core and trying different elbow angles making my arms almost parallel to the ground. I've tried to use my legs to squeeze the tank, abs to hold me up so I can move my butt back a little on the seat which actually makes my back at a stepper angle, like when you're coming onto a straight on a track where you tuck in, but without the part where you get your face under the windshield. That has helped a lot too.

And of course no death grip. I actually open my palm while on the throttle a few times when I get the tingle. So I don't think I'm holding on too tight, but now that the bar ends/sliders didn't help at all, I'm thinking I'll be trying a new grip on the clip-ons and maybe go larger on some new gloves since mine are kinda tight.

I'll post an update. I'm sure everyone is sick of me on this post LOL.

You nailed it!

Sometime's it's not how hard you're gripping but how much pressure is on your palms. I agree that using your core to help keep weight off your hands and that has given me the most relief. At my size, anything helps, but a more athletic riding style will help if done right.

Hmm no issues here with vibrations. I thought the stock bar ends were heavy and since I have CRG bar end mirrors I went with Kyle Racing bar ends that are solid and I have no issues with them.

Agreed. Altering that little pressure on the lower right side of my right palm can make it better or worse. That being said, I tried an older pair of A-Stars SP1s this morning and it was worse haha. So I'm gonna look at new gloves asap too!!

Yea, I was very surprised to see how heavy the stock bar ends are.

Hi Sergio,

I also had the same tingling issue with this bike that I don't have on other bikes. I understand that if I was the OP, I'd also get the same grip of death remarks without fully understanding one's anatomy. Some people are affected differently than others.

Once you state that you are not on the bars with all your weight, they should take that into account with future replies, but the grip of death is so prevalent to new riders that it is often the first remedy followed closely by build the core solutions 1.0, and 1.1. All valid, seriously!

Now that you mentioned that you work out and have a good understanding of how to ride and handle your motorcycles, we can direct more attention to your anatomy--mainly your ulnar nerves that might be responsible for that nasty tingle/stinging feeling. Depending on how you are positioning your shoulders, elbows, and wrists, you might be pinching your ulnar nerve. Remember the body position of your other bikes may not be the same as the 1199. To me and many others, I find the overall ergos of the 1199 to be much more comfortable compared to other sportbikes. EXCEPT for the tingling pinky finger/outside edge of my palm.

I put on the snake oil grips that you mentioned and most of the ill effects have gone away. I do occasionally hold the throttle with three digits (thumb, index, middle) just to change grips time to time and it's been working great for me. The grips went on easily with soapy water and I trimmed them to fit between the inside and outside extrusions of the original Ducati grip. Otherwise, they have a tendency to slide off towards the outside of your grips with constant pressure pushing it outwards.

Good Luck! Sucks that you have keep spending money to find a solution, but this one worked for me.

i lost one bar end weight at the track and didn't even notice a difference. (throttle side)

Agreed. I'm running lighter bar end weights than stock and would take them off completely if not for the function they serve in the event of a crash.

The tinglinghas less to do with vibration and more to do with the fact that two main nerves in your hand get squashed under your palm while you ride. You can try squeezing the tank more with your thighs to reduce pressure on your wrists, or just ride more. Your body will either adapt or you'll get carpal tunnel. Chances are it'll adapt. Trust me on this one! ;)

If you're doing a lot of highway miles, why not go for a Tuneboy with it's cruise control function? I plan on doing the same this winter.

I removed mine to install the bar-end mirrors and turn signals. They weigh far less than the bar-end weights, and I have felt no difference. Of course, if you lay it down, the weights are probably nice for protecting the clip-on end, but I never trust bars after a crash anyway - cheap insurance to replace them. I use the TuneBoy with cruise control. Nice to take the hand off the bar and let some blood return to my right hand occasionally.

+1 on the 717

I just installed them on mine and for $16 grips, they feel and look great compared to $50 or $100+ grips, even.

I used stock and the lighter DP bar ends. Very little difference, but there is a slight improvement with heavier bar ends. +1 on progrips, they are much more comfortable.

Finally I discovered that the problem was the tight Ducati/Dainese gloves. The top plate was pressuring the top of my hand and creating numbness. I switched to A* GP and the problem went away. Voila.
