Anyone want to buy a 2020 Panigale WSBK?

So you want to make the bike less rideable? 🤔

There is nothing you can do to make an inline 4 flick side to side like my bike, you can improve it but not equal it on a BMW. Which means it’s also going to be more rideable and stable through turns, if less exciting.

Making the engine a little more savage isn’t going to hurt that if it’s tuned right.

And the only reason I’m even considering getting an inline 4 bike is because of the work they’ve done in the wind tunnel on the 2023 bikes to make the bike work better for bigger riders when you need to be in the tuck, which is the majority of the time on most tracks. Which rules out the GYTR R1 for me. (Badass bike but doesn’t solve my problem)

I’ve always attacked the weakest link on my bike that’s slowing me down. Right now it’s that when I get above 140-150 mph I’m wanting to back off because I’m catching so much air that it’s not even fun, and it’s slowing my acceleration to those speeds.

I’m either going to have to custom fabricate something for the upper fairing, or switch to a different platform like the 2023 BMW’s who have it addressed already.

I’m fine with progressing slower on my corner roll speeds with the Ducati versus the BMW, frankly it’s just more fun lol, and eventually will force me to be a better rider.

But as I’ve gotten a bit faster the beating I’m taking and how much I’m getting slowed down on the straights is becoming less and less tenable

If you biggest weekness is on the straight with a liter bike that is kind of crazy.
What level group are you riding in? With out knowing you or seeing you ride there is no way the rest of the is buttoned up as far as dropping time goes...

You are 100% accurate, and I ride in group two. All the other areas I can see how to improve from more riding, a different bike or mods won’t help that, and I’m not having the equipment cause me a lack of confidence in all the other areas, I just need to improve riding ability.

On the straights I cannot get into a full tuck, so I’m being slowed on acceleration, and at speeds above 140-150 I’m being wind buffeted so much that I have to back off, that’s not a riding ability issue, it’s an equipment issue not fitting to a guy my size.

That’s me in a full tuck, chest on the tank and butt back as far as I can go, still catching crazy air but, look at my eyes..

That’s where I need to be to actually sight the track properly.

The current fairings need to increase the size of my tuck envelope by about 3 inches to be manageable, then I’m less than ideal but barely catching air, so I figure I need about another inch of fairing and windscreen.

Need to lift your butt up and get the chest to the tank and get the chin up, Stopven 😝

But seriously do you have neck or back issues that limit flexibility? Or a belly getting in the way? Does your suit fit properly, not too tight in any areas? Any chance to get side profile with your various seats. I get that the taller seat will help get the butt up and back more horizontal but it‘s also putting you a lot higher up in the wind overall. Tricky situation.

You might want to consider a different helmet. Some are more stable than others, and having better openings or fitting angle.
You could also try longer bars, or try pushing yours a little further forwards

Have a bit of a gut but it’s not getting in the way of my tuck as it’s behind the tank, that’s

Bars are as far forward as the can go.

Been doing yoga and pilates for more flexibility lol, that’s a work in progress.

That AGV is pretty good but I usually ride in my Suomi which IS a bit better.

Super yes to the back situation, have a touch of arthritis that makes it more of a strain to look up at upward at the max range of motion, but I’m doing neck drills to work on that too.

Also yes I know losing weight will help, am doing so, but my frame is just thick regardless lol

If I could open up the top fairing angle about the amount of those green lines it would work well for me.

No need to modify anything except your position. On acceleration down the straight, your butt should be hovering off the seat and sternum should be planted on the tank with the chin of the helmet on the tank. Is the tank extension and cover getting in the way?

This is how you need to be. I just adjusted the angles. You should literally be mounting the tank. And the back stop should be tickling your taint. Might be worth getting rid of the nub thing on the tank to get this position if you have a bit of a gut.

I’ve found that letting the bike drift under me so my butt hits the back stop when accelerating helps. This lets me conserve my strength and there’s less inputs into the bars trying to scramble fwd. Once I don’t feel like I’m getting ripped off the bike I then reposition (usually on an upshift) with my legs to full tuck.

The wheelie control sorts out the wheelies and shift in weight. At least on my 22, it’s really good and sorted. Turn the wheelie control to max and let the electronics do the work. Then, slowly work it down.

Tank extender not in the way.

I’d have to literally sit on the rear tail fairing completely up and out of the seat to get my chin on the tank, I can’t even imagine doing that on this bike at full WOT lol

You’d slide right of the back lol

And now we are back to lengthening the rear subframe

You mean sitting up off the seat like a horse jockey in the tuck?

I’ve never seen any coach or any rider anywhere sitting up off the seat in tuck

Better. A bit exagerated. Feel the backstop on your butt and then lift straight up a little to get the chest down. Chin should be in the pocket of the tank just in front of the fuel filler. Helmet should just be an inch or 2 from the screen.

Only have to do this initially and briefly to get into the tuck position. Once you get the chest to the tank then settle your backside. Check out around 2m25. See how Sylvain makes small adjustments to get his backside as far back as possible. You’re bigger than him and less flexible so you’ll have to figure it out.

Get rid of the gut and you’ll be in better shape w flexibility and weight. Adjusting the bike touch points is higher priority than adjusting the fairings or subframe.

Corey Alexander MotoAmerica stk1000 Champion is 6'4"
watch how far back he pushes his butt flattening his back and getting behind the windscreen
this is a very difficult thing to do on a liter bike wide open, as it is pulling the .... out of you.
you chin should be on the tank in front of the gas cap, touch is hard but right above it is the goal
some people put some foam down there for a target + a buffer for touching

Getting that bump on the back of the seat like Karl’s helps with raising the bum

I’m as far back as the seat goes, to do that I need to be up over the rear tail fairing. Looks like my tail section is about to get covered in Stompgrip lol

Might even be worth putting the Streetfighter passenger tail on there if we are gunna be doing that, and seeing if RaceSeats can modify it to a flatter shape with a backstop.

Modifying the subframe to be longer 50 or so mm wouldn't be too hard to do. You'd also need to extend the rearsets a little or add a spacer, also not very difficult.

First thing I'd change though is your jacket... it looks way too tight and it's being pushed against the back of your helmet. That must be hindering your ability to tuck.

Lol I don’t wear that at the track, I have a couple of custom fit Dainese
